That said, I've never seen him nor read any scouting reports, so it's possible there's more to him than just merely being huge."
seem pretty innocuous to me...
I far as I know, he hasn't played a game in the NHL? Am I mistaken? I can't find any stats at least...

My point was they don't bother to do research. Kent Wilson is beyond what I would call a hack. He is sheer garbage and gives bloggers a bad name. What is the point of even writing a piece if you aren't going to research it? But it's Wilson style to write without facts and put a negative spin on things.
and considering everyone from Feaster to regular viewers says Breen is NHL ready, he has the NHL upside that was mentioned in the "article".
I honestly don't know how anyone can defend Wilson

Wow, in slamming Wilson you've pretty much damned yourself. Guy is one of the best flames analysts, point out relevant examples where he's way off base overly harsh etc

weird how that works isn't it?

Weird how what works, exactly?
Who has looked at "the film" and isn't super impressed, who has done that then been jeered by me.
I think you're talking about you backside.

I'd rather read Kent Wilson than most of the posters in this thread.

yeah, but he also admits that he could be flat out wrong, and that there could be more to his game.
the reason that he questions the pick is the reason many people loved the Kanzig pick: you can't teach size. Breen falling through 7 rounds of the draft without getting picked was the reason Wilson put up a red flag in the first place.
Again, its great that he is a regular AHL'er, that we got for nothing. But I don't cheer for the Heat; I cheer for the Calgary Flames.
Until he suits up in the NHL, the jury is out.
its a simple metric, and I don't understand why people get their hackles up about it? You draft to get NHL players, not AHL players...

You made a claim about me, I'm asking you to back it up. If you can't and where just yammering on then fine, just admit it.
Though I guess your suggestion is easier for you.

Maybe it's been covered already.., but where will he be playing next year? I sorta hope we see him and our other first rounders at least in some exhibition games.

I like that his dad said that he was just happy his son was taken by a Canadian team.

If he has a good camp, he'll probably get into an exhibition game or two, but he's almost certainly going back to junior.

The brunt of the article wasn't on players though, it was on organizations and their habits.
The Oilers were big culprits in that time frame for taking players that were sliding (Henrich, Riesen, Rita), while the Devils I think were the poster boys for going off teh board.
The teams with conviction far outweighed the falling star teams in their overall success ratio.
If you hire idiots then conviction is scary, you can't avoid that.
But if you believe the Flames have a new direction under Weisbrod then you're glad they have conviction.
Bottomline though ... it's always fair to compare the next three players taken after a draft pick. Further than that is unfair.
Hopefully it goes their way.

Sounds interesting...I'd love to see the article. Where specifically can we find it?
