Anyone in the South have pizza from Royal Pizza? They are opening one up by me in the next month or so.

BP's, but only for the sauce. I like a spicy sauce and haven't found one like BP's yet. If you know of a place, let me know. Pizza Hut is crap though.

For thick-crust, I was a big devotee of Tino's on Centre-street north, but they recently closed down, and I haven't found a delivery place to fill the void yet.
For thin crust, I really like Gondola.

If you want a pizza with 2" of toppings and weighs 10 pounds, Vern's pizza is quite good.
My sister has a place called Emilio's out in Chestemere and they have some of the best pizza I've tasted, they were in the top list at that Sun Pizza Party.

Spiro's Pizza on 17 Ave SW used to be the best in town. I haven't been there in ages now that I live way up north.
Used to love Tino's on Center Street, wasn't aware they'd shut down.
Karouzo’s on 4th Street NW is one of the places for good pizza that nobody seems to know about. But it's been there for 30+ years.
Stromboli's in Kensington was also great, but it's gone downhill since the original founder left some time ago.
BTW, franchises like BP, Pizza Hut, Domino's shouldn't be part of this conversation. It's fast food pizza. It's like comparing McDonalds or Burger King with a gourmet burger.

Oakridge Pizza on 90th Ave SW was my fave growing up. The cheese was baked over the toppings.
For franchise pizza I prefer Papa Johns. I like the dipping sauces that PanaGo provides.

They're good, but pretty expensive...
The best pizza for the price, bar none is Chicago Deep Dish.

I agree. Stromboli's used to be the best in the city. Until the owner decided to go back to italy for good, and took his mother with him. Used to be a good family friend of hours. Did you know most of his ingredients came from italy when he went there each summer?
I have the recipe for the wonderul dough/crust that his mother used to make if anyone wants it.

Gimme Gimme the recipe, that crust was amazingly fluffy and crispy. Whenever I try to make crust it tastes crappy.

I'll have to get my dad to send it out to me... I'll let you know in a week or so.

I used to like Stomboli, however I went with some friends before a 7:00 flames game. Arrived just before 5:30.
The waiter/kitchen lost our order, the waiter did not come to update us as to what was happening. We did tell him that we were going to the Flames game. They gave us a minimal discount off the food and we missed the first period.
I will never give them the business.
TOM's is the best ...Pizza made to perfection.

Yeah I've had similar crappy service at Stromboli's. Double mushroom and pep was always a favorite of mine... looks like it's gone for good now.... Food always too long there but it used to be worth the wait....
When did the old owner leave?
Is it me or is Kensington getting stale in general?
