I would be fine with using garden hoses to transport oil to the coast, pack mules, pick up trucks with garbage bag liners, and massive catapults firing garbage bags of oil to the coast.
As it stands our esteemed Prime Minister will probably find a way to delay or kill this thing by locking it up in consultations for the next three or four years.

Fascinating article I came across, but didnt know the best place to put it. Thought this would be appropriate here:
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/...mption/482532/
One thing that really struck out was how much more eloquent Jimmy Carter is compared to Drumpf.
Choice quote:
“In a nation that was proud of hard work, strong families, close-knit communities and our faith in God, too many of us now tend to worship self-indulgence and consumption,” he said. “ Human identity is no longer defined by what one does, but by what one owns.” He told Americans they had to drive less, carpool more, and use public transportation. “Every act of energy conservation like this is more than just common sense—I tell you it is an act of patriotism.”
The speech didn’t work.

If you're expecting some kind of social altruism from Drumpf then you havent been paying attention.

Reading an article like this is the reason people ae opposed to having pipelines running near their towns or near fresh water. Stumbling upon a leak that size is brutal.

I did find it in the wallstreet journal, huffington post and some other publications.
http://www.wsj.com/articles/shell-sh...ico-1463095623
It sounds like moon glow's estimates were way off as she estimated that the leak was about 5 to 10 times more then the actual volume reported.
But you don't like to see leaks of any type.

The gulf has natural seeps that probably expel similar volumes on an ongoing basis. Obviously any leak is terrible, but this volume is relatively minor.

More so the fact that it wasn't detected until it was spotted from above. Doesn't look very good when one of the selling points is the monitoring of the pipelines to prevent large spills.

You are right, I should only trust the main stream media outlets to keep me informed.

Same argument made by people who rely on things like Ezra Levant's Rebel Media, Brietbart, Infowars, etc.

So there was no oil spill and it wasn't stumbled upon by chance? This is now known because of who reported it. I see.
If you would like to direct me to the real story here then great, I'm open to reading it.
Was there monitoring in place? Is that how it was discovered? My original point being the fact that people in communities that have concerns over a pipeline running close to them is quashed with the response that they have such amazing monitoring.

Nice strawman argument, given nobody claimed there was no oil spill.
But hey, if you want to believe that the spill that did happen is comparable to the BP disaster and - despite the fact that the BP spill dominated the news - this one was covered up, then I have a few rolls of tin foil to sell you.
Edit: I know that when I am looking for hard-hitting, independent journalism, this is what I am looking for:
Quote:
Spirit Science is about the harmonic merging of ideas that previously we have believed did not fit together. Things such as “Spirit” and “Science”, taking out all of the dogma and limitations that come with these, and unifying them together as One.
It is the blending of Male and Female energies. The natural blending of our mathematical, logical understanding, and the emotional, magical, and spiritual way of life that have been separate for far too long.
It is time for the Two to become One, once more.

Yeah, I said it was covered up hey.....and why not add in that I compared it to the BP oil spill.
I did say that the monitoring didn't seem to work and that could be a reason for concern.
As far as Journalism, give me a trusted source. Please. I would love to see this.

It wasn't stumbled on by chance. It was a shell pilot who reported the spill. One of the mitigations for pipeline monitoring is having regular staff who will be around the route. So one of the leak detection methods for this pipeline worked.

Wikipedia, unlike yourself, mandates the use of "reliable sources".

This is the part that people are missing out on the helicopter was a shell pilot, and it sounds like they do fairly regular inspections.
We'll have to wait and see what the report says about them not sensing the leak through the sub sea pipe.
