yeah, that is not what I expected. Pretty much flat across the board.

I'll take it though, much better news than I was expecting.

Fundamentals ruling the day it seems. No one believed anything major would have resulted from everyone capping at peak output. Once the refineries start ramping up in the coming weeks I think the prices will continue to climb.

It seems like the Kuwait workers strike played a part in offsetting the drop due to the failure at the Doha talks

Not weird at all. It's exactly as expected. The market priced in a soft deal (aka: no impact - freezing at record output does nothing) - so the resultants 'no deal' has the same physical market supply/demand implications as the soft freeze would have - so no real move was expected either way. The negative initial reaction is more the inferences it puts on future Saudi moves. But the no deal vs. soft freeze has the same market impact, which is why oil is generally unchanged on the day vs. Friday's close.

Except oil went up last week because of speculation of a positive result from the impending meeting, since it wasn't anything positive I think it'll dump in the next few days.

I would assume the news of no agreement was already priced in, and any agreement would have been a surprise to the market and represented a large lift in prices today.

I think cracks showing in supply is what is dragging prices up.

The high in the etf's on wednesday last week wasn't as high as the mid march high which meant pessimism to me on Friday. I would expect some lessening of volatility now as it figures out which way to go. But just a guess.

No it is not. 44 on the dot.

And yeah it's funny that everyone's all excited at $45 these days. Hey at least we have a business around these levels.

No I've been here all my life. The comment was meant to be more sarcastic, should have used green text
