I'm honestly more and more terrified as I see who Trump is picking to fill his cabinet. I long for Mitt Romney.
Rudy Giuliani is out of his damn mind, and Trump wants to make him Attorney General? He wants to make Ben Carson who thinks the planet is 600 years old the head of education. He wants to make a climate change denier the head of the EPA.
How is this actually real life?

Yeah I kinda had that thought too... though I had that thought about his campaign but it seemed to go the opposite way with Trump either infecting those around him with his style of thought (Conway seemed to get more and more off the deep end as the campaign went on for example) or getting rid of the ones that didn't (Corey vs. Manafort, though Manafort's Russian/Ukrainian links may have been more important there, but it seemed to be headed that way anyway).
In a related story, seems Trump is having some difficulty finding people to work for his administration among the security community. Some prospects are citing Trump being unfit for the job, but how much of it is just basic resentment given how Trump derided them during the campaign.
I've read that being able to run a campaign is supposed to show a candidate is prepared to run their Presidency, and Trump seemed to have a lot of problems in that area.

Woo Ryan just announced he plans to phase out Medicare and replace it with private insurance for old people. It's like GOP Christmas.

I spent today really thinking about everything that is likely to happen now, and how it will effect the GOP's main voter base. Senior citizens are more than happy to side with you on those damn entitlements as long as they're sure you're talking about welfare and food stamps...I'm not sure all those senior citizens realize that medicare and social security are under that same "entitlement" umbrella that the GOP rail against.
What happens if over the next two years, medicare becomes private insurance (which has been increasing in cost for decades, well before the ACA became law) and social security becomes privatized and turned over to Wall Street. I wonder if those same senior citizens will be so eager to vote GOP if their quality of life has been dramatically effected?
And if the GOP ends the ACA, thus kicking 20+ million people off of their insurance, leaving those with pre-existing conditions in the lurch, how many people are going to want to vote for them?
The GOP can finally do everything they've promised to do for 6 years, without anyone to stop them. What happens when they actually get their way? How will their constituents react?
I'm curious to see how things go in 2018, assuming all hell doesn't break loose between now and then.

They can do whatever they want because they know they won't get voted out where it matters, in the senate/house. Democrats just don't vote in midterms, and those that do are easy to segregate into obscurity by the Republicans who control districting. It'll get even worse now with Donny at the head taking all of the political headlines, leaving the rest of the GOP to chop up districts to their hearts content without anyone paying attention

I feel like if they start gutting social security and medicare, it'll affect a lot of those people who do vote every single time.
Also there are a ton of people who voted in this election for Donald Trump who have never voted before, or who haven't voted in a very long time. Those are also people who aren't going to vote in the mid-terms. Especially when it starts to dawn on them that Trump isn't bringing back coal, he isn't bringing back manufacturing jobs, he isn't bringing back the steel mills.
Meanwhile I think that finally, hopefully, this was a wake-up call to younger voters, to non-white voters. Among people I know, (many people of color, many from the LGBT community, etc) there was a day of sadness, just pure despondency, but those that I know who voted against Trump? Today they were angry. They were determined. I can only hope that this kind of determination will stand. Sometimes when pushed into a corner, people finally fight back. I have to believe that this is the case, otherwise I just don't know how to deal with living in this country.

He's a journalist who's not fact checking the stories he's tweeting. Where is the responsibility in that.

To shape his administration, President-elect Donald Trump is drawing squarely from the "swamp" he has pledged to drain.
Trump's transition team is staffed with long-time Washington experts and lobbyists from K Street, think tanks and political offices.
It's a far cry from Trump's campaign, which ended only Tuesday night, and message that he would "drain the swamp" in Washington. He has advocated congressional term limits and proposed a "five-point plan for ethics reform" that included strengthening restrictions on lobbying, including five-year bans for members and staff of the executive branch and Congress from lobbying, and expanding the definition of lobbyist to prevent more revolving door activity.
But he has so far fully embraced lobbyists within his transition, and all signs point to a heavy influence from longtime Washington Republican circles on his transition. And with Trump mostly skipping detailed policy proposals during his campaign, these they can have a powerful impact on his agenda.
Leaders in his transition include former Rep. Mike Rogers, former Reagan Attorney General and Heritage Foundation fellow Edwin Meese, former President of Heritage Edwin Feulner, former Bush administration official and lobbyist Christine Ciccone, former Dick Cheney adviser Ado Machida, former Senate Budget Committee staffer Eric Ueland and former Sen. Jeff Sessions' chief of staff Rick Dearborn. The effort is chaired by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Trump counts former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Sessions as close advisers.

So is it your contention that every single image below is a fabrication or lie just because you don't like the person who's retweeting them?
(spoiler for language)

More and more, I find myself thinking that a strong Trump is the greatest hope in all of this.
He's conned the masses with vitriol and lies, and the best we can hope for is that he now ignores all the promises he made and, in egotistical Trump fashion, also ignores the advice of the cronies buzzing in his ears. With them, we have an ugly certainty. With him, who knows what we have.
