I already miss Obama. I've missed him for 4 years since the GOP has decided to simply ignore compromise and instead blocked everything they could until they got the chance to put forth hardline GOP beliefs unfettered. Many that voted for the GOP do not understand they are not getting center right republican ideals.

Well they might but it's going to take a GOP split led by the likes of McCain.

The guys that had the Keepin' It 1600 podcast started a new one (Pod Save America) and they had Obama on yesterday! Was more casual than a typical Obama interview, I found it interesting.

Bizarro world becomes real today. Somewhere, in the timeline which we're the alternative to, people are calm and happy.

I wonder how far along Skynet is, and if its completely pooping its pants and speeding up its production of Terminators.

Fox news poll has his approval at 37% this morning. Only 3% off where Bush was when he left office in 2009.

Ralph Lauren makes pantsuits?!

Been reading that Trump is far behind in appointments. They're having to ask Obama people to stay around so that things can keep running.

In all, Mr. Trump has named only 29 of his 660 executive department appointments, according to the Partnership for Public Service, which has been tracking the process. That is a pace far slower than recent predecessors, falling far short of the schedule originally outlined by Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, who was Mr. Trump’s transition director before Mr. Trump ousted him 10 weeks ago.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/19/u...uguration.html

The Obama administration has written 275 briefing papers for the incoming Trump administration: nearly 1,000 pages of classified material on North Korea’s nuclear program, the military campaign against the Islamic State, tensions in the South China Sea, and every other kind of threat the new team could face in its first weeks in office.

Nobody in the current administration knows whether anyone in the next has read any of it.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/18/u...y-council.html

Former NSC aides say that Flynn and McFarland will need seasoned senior-level experience as early in their tenure as possible.

“Unlike State, which can rely on its bureaucracy, the NSC has to be ready on Day One as most of its old team leaves,” said Philip Gordon, who held senior NSC jobs in the Obama and Clinton White Houses. “In a normal world, even before a single presidential phone call or meeting or decision the NSC team would prepare background, points, facts, etc. They will not have a team ready to do that.”

“But it’s not clear Trump operates that way or would use any of the stuff anyway,” Gordon added.

Trump has only nominated 28 of the 690 federal government positions that require Senate confirmation, according to the Partnership for Public Service, which is advising the Trump transition, as it did for the Obama transition.

Foreign Policy reports that many top management and policy posts have yet to be filled, including those that oversee diplomacy, counterterrorism, and nuclear weapons. Some Defense Department positions have reportedly been left vacant due to a feud between Trump advisers and retired General James Mattis, incoming Defense Secretary.

Some Obama officials have been asked to stay on for a few weeks, and others are unclear on what their status will be after Friday. “There’s a lot of uncertainty, and if the transition team has a plan for maintaining continuity in key roles, they haven’t made that widely known,” a senior administration official told Foreign Policy.
