Not exactly a wonderful set of possibilities here: Senility, Alzheimer's, or people are putting out statements in Trump's name that he himself doesn't even know about.

Quote:
He was also asked about his characterization of the Berlin attack as an attack on Christians.

“ISIS and other Islamist terrorists continually slaughter Christians in their communities and places of worship as part of their global jihad,” Trump had said in a statement issued after the attack on Monday.

On Wednesday, Trump appeared unfamiliar with the statement issued in his name.

“Who said that?” Trump countered, challenging the reporter. “It’s an attack on humanity. That’s what it is. An attack on humanity, and it’s got to be stopped.”

Clip is here, at 0:45 seconds. I do like that she responds to "Who said that" with "Well, you did".

I would have done even better in the election, if that is possible, if the winner was based on popular vote - but would campaign differently

Seems like he goes off on something to distract people from another issue. Is it the Lewandowski stuff being mentioned here?
He's probably right, he'd have ran as a business first, pro-choice, democrat with an entirely different set of lies.

Well you couldn't simply write off California's 55 electoral votes and you'd have to do some damage control there. So I'd agree that he'd have campaigned differently.

For all the "everybody got it wrong" talk, I feel like a lot of polls near the end had Clinton up by 3 to 5 points? In the end they were only off by a point or two.

Five thirty eight has some good analysis on what missed and how .Essentially the problem was in state polling demographics weren't shifted by education. So the state polls over sampled college educated whites and under sampled non college educated whites. In the past this hasn't been an issue as their weren't significant differences between the blocks.

Ha ha ha. This can't be true. Well, I guess it can, considering the circumstances, but still, it can't be.

Where did this come from?

I don't know. Trump has proven to be incredibly childish, so I find this pretty easy to believe.

Not the same link as Senator's, but making the same basic claim when it comes to looks.

Quote:
“Presentation is very important because you’re representing America not only on the national stage but also the international stage, depending on the position,” said Trump transition spokesman Jason Miller.
Quote:
“He likes people who present themselves very well, and he’s very impressed when somebody has a background of being good on television because he thinks it’s a very important medium for public policy,” said Chris Ruddy, chief executive of Newsmax Media and a longtime friend of Trump. “Don’t forget, he’s a showbiz guy. He was at the pinnacle of showbiz, and he thinks about showbiz. He sees this as a business that relates to the public.”

“The look might not necessarily be somebody who should be on the cover of GQ magazine or Vanity Fair,” Ruddy said. “It’s more about the look and the demeanor and the swagger.”
Quote:
On the other hand, in Trump’s book, not having the right kind of appearance is tantamount to a disqualifier. During the presidential campaign, he stirred a controversy when he pronounced that Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton lacked “a presidential look, and you need a presidential look.”

Battling through the GOP primary, Trump frequently made barbed comments about his opponents’ appearances.

Those kind of skin-deep standards helped make Trump a success as a reality-television star and international brand, but his critics say they are worrisome in the Oval Office.

His personnel choices show signs of being “cast for the TV show of his administration,” said Bob Killian, founder of a branding agency based in Chicago. “They are all perfectly coifed people who look like they belong on a set.”

Wasn't the split between college-educated and not one of the most talked about trends during the election cycle? It's pretty disingenuous for pollsters to say they didn't think it would make a difference.

^^ Yeah sorry forgot to post the link with the story, but that is the article in question. Reality TV star till the bitter end. Looking forward to his reality TV approach to what country they're going to invade during his administration.

We obviously will never know how this election would have went if there were no electoral college, but its certainly possible he would have won anyways. But considering how large the total vote difference has become, that argument certainly loses a lot of its luster. Certainly both sides would have campaigned differently.

But to me the X factor would be how turnout would change if there were no electoral college. One of the main reasons I didn't bother voting is that in this state, my vote has basically no value. As a liberal (and a recovering democrat; more about that in a sec), not only do my votes at the federal level have zero chance of changing things, even at the state level, things are so slanted towards republicans there is little point. Out here in the suburbs, there are often not any democrats that even run.

OK, disclosure about the not voting part so we don't have to devolve into why everyone should vote or not voting takes away a right to complain... The first election I was able to vote in was in 2000. That summer as an 18 year old I walked into the democrat office and started volunteering. I spent many nights over the next 6 years playing the game. I went door to door registering voters, I spent hours and hours phone banking. I drove people to polls on election day, and I even ran the website for a successful congressional campaign. But having seen what I saw on the inside, I saw a democratic party that was just as corrupt as the republican party. So at the ripe old age of 25, I became an old cynical curmudgeon. Have only voted once or twice since and haven't been involved though I continue to remain informed on as much as I can.

Yeah, which is why it's interesting that they didn't adjust for it. One problem is the more you break things down demographicly the smaller your sample size becomes and the more mathematical error there is rather than a non representative sample error.

Holy ####, the music lineup for Donald Trump’s inauguration ball is hot garbage

http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/1...s-hot-garbage/

Just who makes up this “stellar list”? Well, they’ve got Nashville singer-songwriter Beau Davidson, who will be performing music from his latest album, The American Gentleman; The Reagan Years, “one of the HOTTEST ’80s cover bands” who only perform music released during Ronald Regan’s presidency; and a wedding band called The Mixx; plus DJ sets by DJ Romin, DJ Young Rye, DJ Flow, and — my personal fav — DJ Freedom. The Star Spangled Singers will also take the stage to serenade party-goers with “uplifting, patriotic songs and instrumentals".

The Facebook comments on Trump's ball are a riot:

I hope they get paid in advance because ...

An alt-right Motown cover band called the White Supremes?

Typical liberal media...the Reagan years are easily in the top ten of Reagan themed 80s cover bands. The Iran-Contra Hearing Loss is still my favorite though

A far cry from when U2 and REM got together for Bill Clinton's inauguration, eh?
