"Hey guys, watch this"
"Bro, that's a bad idea. If you fall under the train and lose a leg, you could also get a fine"
"A fine? I sure don't want one of those! Abort!"

I would gladly check on my property tax bill, a box that said "contribute an extra $1000 to send all accordion door style ctrain cars to the bottom of the ocean" if such an option existed. Heck I might even go as high as $2000.

Under the Transit bylaw, Peace Officers can issue a fine for Delay of Transit service of up to $5000 - seems fairly substantial, in addition to the loss of limb (guessing the fine wouldn't apply if he lost his life, that seems like piling on).

How about a public flogging in the town square? We can all gather at Olympic plaza and while the guy is on a hospital gurney with a doctor attending his wounds Nenshi can administer 20 savage lashings.

Confirmed idiot.

Police confirmed the man was hanging off the mirror of the CTrain and when it started going, he fell off and went under before being dragged for about a block.

Are you sure?

Quote:
“Police and transit officials do have access to witness account and some of the available surveillance equipment along the LRT way,” said Brideaux. “It doesn’t appear that it was an intentional act by the man however that is still under investigation.”

I thought the statement that it "wasn't intentional" was suggesting that it wasn't an intentional suicide attempt.

If someone is dumb enough to hang off a mirror, is it considered intentional, or are they mentally incapable of understanding how dumb they are? Like a pseudo-"not criminally responsible" verdit in court, except for dumbasses.

The stunt part was intentional, the falling underneath the train part was not intentional.

It is used to differentiate between a stunt gone awry and a suicide attempt.

Hmmm - that's not how I read it. I can see this angle though. Wonder if we'll hear anything else about this again, or if it will just fade away like most c-train collisions.

What an idiot. Can you at least attempt your stupid stunt at like 11am or something, so when it inevitably goes terribly wrong, you're not forcing half of downtown to be stranded in rush hour? Or at least do it when it's warm out? Though I'm assuming this dude doesn't have much in the way of common sense..
