I'm glad that only one of us got our wish in that incident.

Agreed.
That this fella was not shot speaks to the professionalism of the RCMP.

In regards to you calling him "fella", was anyone listening to CTV as/after he was caught? The reporter didn't want to use his name, and rightfully so, but she referred to him as "the gentleman". Maybe not the best substitute?

Alas this is true. Steak and beer on Mondays, pizza Tuesdays and on Saturdays they order out from the best give star restaurants in Canada. For Christmas they fly in Michelin star chefs.
The cells they are in, if you want to call them cells are basically the honeymoon suites at a five star resort. King size bed, 60" TV, and XBox live membership. The guards are basically the wait staff to bring the prisoners rum and cokes and snacks all day long.
And beach days in the summer excursions to NHL games in the winter.
Let's not forget they bring in the prostitutes from the women's prisons every night. Although Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays are blow jobs only.
Seriously, solitary is the worst hell you can imagine.

You also spend the rest of your life in a 8x10 cell. You share accommodations with hundreds of other psychopaths that could shank you, or rape you, at any given moment. You don't get a fork or knife to eat your substandard meals. You don't get belts or shoelaces.
Prison life isn't all sunshine and rainbows. You get beaten. You get harassed. You don't live, you simply exist.

Let's not forget to feel for this nuts family too. They are victims in this as well and must be going through hell. His mom and dad are apparently really decent folk. Too many victims when something like this happens.

This is Canada. Except for a handful of people, there's no such thing as a life sentence.

I wish they shot him too... Just don't kill him, a bullet to each leg and arm should feel real good.
The pos deserves to suffer and then suffer in a jail cell.

We don't do that up here. The way this was handled was a testament to the professionalism and honor of the officers involved. Just amazing people.

Yup... Good news is though he is going to get stale moldy bread in a tiny ass cell in the coldest, most isolated, crappy prison.

Obviously the intent of the correctional system is to rehabilitate, not cruel and unusual punishment so he won't be eating moody bread. He'll likely end up in some sort of special handling unit in the prison system. Frankly giving him his legal rights and treating him with dignity is what separates those in society who believe in decency and the rule of law and the monsters that commit acts such as these.
I hope he spends the rest of his life in prison. I don't personally believe someone who murders three people and attempts to murder another two can be rehabilitated.
Of course I'm looking at this from a police officers view so I'm naturally biased.
