Yeah, cause the RCMP doesn't have qualified units there, it's just some podunk screech drinkers hitting tall grass with a stick.
FLIR units....

He is so young, looking at the pics, he looked much older.
The reporter on the news stated that he is targeting police officers, I wonder what his history with law enforcement is.

I read that he doesn't actually have any criminal history.

That's likely true.
I wonder if the guns are his and if they were legally required.

In one of the press conferences they said he was "unknown to police". Which would suggest that you are bang on.

I'm sure he probably doesn't. Which allowed him to presumably get his PAL certification in order to buy bullets

This is what I think.
Legally purchased and owned firearms by someone who had a background check conducted on them by the RCMP prior to authorization.

I was more thinking about maybe a family member who was in law enforcement or something. I think there would be some sort of connection.

Yes, New Brunswick is Canada's only officially bilingual province. This is because the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms specifically recognizes that English and French are the official languages of New Brunswick. The Charter also states that both Anglophone and Francophone communities in the province have equality of status and equal rights and privileges.

At this juncture he's most likely going to end up bunkered down somewhere, as that's his only real option and it's the only type of scenario the police can exercise some control over.

Police in Ontario are phasing out shotguns and carrying rifles instead, to go along with their handguns. New Brunswick should follow suit and (hopefully) save more lives in the future.

From Press Conference:
- Search still ongoing. Moncton North area is suspected area.
- ERT, Tactical Armoured Vehicles, Air Support, Special I, Special O, K-9 and Officers from all parts of the province and elsewhere are searching for suspect and leads from public and external/internal resources
- #1 priority to apprehend the suspect. Mindful of public and officer safety.
- Earlier suspect sighting in Oromocto was proven false.
- Do not disclose any police activity on social media
- One injured officer has been released, the other in hospital
- Unable to disclose the identity of fallen officers
- Thanks to public for support and respect shown to the RCMP
- Will provide updates as they can. Follow them on Twitter for updates.

Did they pull the plug on the radio feed we're listening to? Mine isn't working anymore.

It says offline, probably changed channels.
Greater Moncton Area Emergency Services
Status: Due to the severity of the ongoing man hunt for the shooter from last night and tactical operations information being given over the air the feed has been dropped until further notice.

Not surprising it was shut down. The Press Conference and many of the RCMP's messages to the public have included a plea for the public to stop tweeting locations. The media have been some of the worst culprits giving addresses as well as tweeting pictures of where the police are set up and searching.
It's pretty obvious that the suspect has access to and look at social media and internet so shut it down so he has less to go on.

Yeah, I listened for a little bit. An officer gave out his cell number. At that time 19,000+ people were listening. Lots of location information given in the short time I listened.
