I still find it weird and odd when any artist walks out with a jersey of a local sports team at a concert and the crowd subsequently cheers in pure elation. It is the same as when one claims how, this crowd here in “insert city”, is the best on the tour, and everyone goes crazy.

Then again, maybe I am just a boring man.

Things have really come full circle. I probably posted that image a half dozen times in the last few years whenever people pointed to Gaudreau's comments about being happy in Calgary as proof he would re-sign.

Overthinking it, imo. Concerts are supposed to be fun. The cliche announcements "Calgary is the best show of the tour so far!!!" "We were actually looking at houses here yesterday" etc are not taken seriously by fans, it's just a fun moment where everyone cheers.
Same deal with jerseys. If you're looking for it be any deeper than a cheering moment and maybe a cool picture of your favourite artists in your favourite team's jersey than you're looking too deep.
All for fun.
Tom Petty almost has a snicker and seems a little mocking while saying it and I loved that, it's just for fun. "Boy, we've been on a tour of Canada all week and it's all been great, but they just kept telling me wait until you get to Calgary" *crowd erupts

Thank you CalgaryPuck! I've been in a lot of threads online but the "#[Signing]#Gaudreau to Columbus (7 x $9.75 million)" thread has to be the best one on the ENTIRE internet!!! This thread has by far the best posters AND best readers!

This is it here, just an incredible show and an amazing crowd that night. Watch it just for one of the best "End of the Line" live versions I've ever heard, alone. One of the loudest crowds the Dome has ever had.

Except for odd cases like Paul Rodgers. I went to see Queen + Paul Rodgers in Vancouver many years ago – last stop on the tour. (Well worth the trip just to see Brian May play the Red Special, in my opinion.) Rodgers not only looked at houses, he married a former Miss Canada and has places in Surrey and Summerland.

I am now sad...

I don't know if anyone else caught the Flames Nation podcast today, but Dean Molberg said that he has heard that Gudbranson's and Johnny's wives pushed for Johnny to sign in Columbus. Apparently they are really close and both having babies this year, they bonded about becoming new mothers together. Molberg said that the original intention was to move closer to home, but when that didn't pan out, the reason for circling back to Columbus was due to the wives pushing for it.
It obviously doesn't matter to me what his reasons were. That's his biz and it would honestly be a nice thing for this wife, if that was the reason, IMO.
The talk about it starts just after the 24:00 mark.

I didn't understand this as anything more than speculation on the basis that Meredith Gaudreau and Gudbranson's wife are close, and both were having babies this year.

The only guy who can pull it off is Snoop Dogg because he just seems like he would be wearing jerseys casually even when he's not on stage.

Yeah seems like a massive stetch...and neither Gaudreau or Gudbrandson have mentioned it in any of their interviews. Nobody in the media reports it until 4 months later on a podcast.
I'm sure it was a nice perk but not a deciding factor
