Love Sutter as a coach, but as a talent evaluator I think he's somewhat narrow minded. You see it in the drafting, in the trades and in the players he moved out.

It's hard to draft when your primary player evaluation criterion is 'has this player won a cup?'

But I mean...if you're at the draft and the answer is 'yes' you draft that player!
Because that would be awesome.

I think he is wrong, though. This was probably sound thinking more than a decade or two ago, but the only way kids are getting to the NHL in this day and age is by total, year-round, undivided commitment.

Sometimes, though, that commitment can involve practising skills that are easier to work on with different equipment.
Joe Nieuwendyk, back in the day, had an incredible knack for standing beside the net and tipping in pucks out of mid-air. He attributed this to the time he spent playing summer lacrosse. I see no reason why things like that shouldn't be part of an NHLer's off-season training nowadays.

I think it depends...a big question is how much success is driven by inherent talent vs. hard work. Probably a different ratio for each individual...you definitely need both, but I don't think the 'hard work' portion needs to be directed solely at hockey.
Even more than different muscles, I think other sports train the brain to process/react in different ways. Most elite young players are too talented to have to 'think' very much...but drop them into a sport where they are only mediocre and the Xs and Os can actually start to come alive a lot more...especially defensively. Basketball/soccer/lacrosse are obviously the most transferable in terms of flow, but I think an athlete can derive some powerful insights from pretty much any other sport.

Between Sutter and Feaster we sure did gut that strong mid 2000's core for a song.

Cool baby. Glad everyone is healthy and happy.
The name is of Hebrew origin and and is traditionally gender neutral. Not that it matters, look how many girls are named Mackenzie these days, which literally means "son of Kenneth".

Probably indecisive with the name and didn't fill out the birth certificate in time so it's missing some letters
