That's one way to look at it, and you are correct in that sometimes its an issue at festivals or shows or whatever, but there is also those moments were the vibe and the music and the moment transcends words and it is incomparable to anything else.
You can't get that unless you dive in, right.

I actually feel even more spiteful towards Gaudreau since some time has passed. I’m sorry, right or wrong, it’s just the truth.

Brent Krahn was really hard on Johnny on the Fan960 this morning. Basically called him very immature for not having the balls to make a decision and give Tre a chance to salvage something.

Meh, I'm over it.
He's a young guy who seemed he was over the place with what he wanted. I can't say I'd have done better in his position. Without this happening we likely don't get Huberdeau and have the chance to build around someone who is 100% committed to winning as a Flame.
I wish it had happened differently and he was more clear prior to free agency, but I respect that he made the more difficult choice because it was right for him.

Tough to say if they get Huberdeau or not as Tkachuk would have seemingly wanted out either way.

Most of the reporting I heard was that MT was waiting on Gaudreau. I think if Johnny re-signed, Matthew likely would have as well. Without JG this team probably looked directionless to the Tkachuck clan.

Brent Krahn thinks JG should have made a quicker decision. The guy that didn't even make it to the big leagues thinks that JG needs to solve his whole next decade in a couple of weeks because the company he works for didn't sort it out last summer.
Thanks for that, Brent. Pretty sure it's easy for you to say when you would probably jump on the first minimum wage NHL contract offered. Sorry you didn't make it. Neither did I. No point in being mad at JG. Dude put in a decade in this town, and now he's the AH for choosing what's best for him and his family? Krahn sounds like a jealous ex and so do many of the posters in this thread.

Now that both of them are gone, thinking back, not so sure retaining both would be good for the team. Last season was great in regular season but they still couldn't help the team get over the playoff hump. I don't think most here mad / complain about losing Gaudreau, it's losing him for nothing. And Tkachuk decided to leave got us a big haul, so may be it's a good thing in disguise?

I think the delay had more to do with the Flames than Tkachuk. I think he was gone regardless of what Gaudreau did. From what I recall, suggestions that he was waiting to see what Gaudreau would do first were all pure speculation. On the contrary, Tkachuk's decision to leave seemed calculated months or years prior to this summer.

Imagine if Gaudreau had signed like he said he would, and then Treliving still went out and made the same Florida trade?

Had Johnny stayed and Calgary offered Tkachuk something like $10.5M for 8 years I think he maybe stays as well. But I think once he became an RFA and teams (like Florida) basically said they would pay him $9M+ he was ready to leave and had the leverage to make it happen.
The interesting question is whether Treliving makes that same trade if Johnny is under contract at $10.5M. Even though Huberdeau’s new deal wouldn’t start until next year when the Flames have more cap space, do you build this team around two playmaking $10M wingers?
Edit: Haha, basically the same question Roof-Daddy asked.

I don't know, I just strongly feel that Tkachuk made the opportunity happen when he signed that 4 year contract with basically an out after three, and followed through to get back to the US and into a tax friendly market this off season.
He and his family is all business and I've no doubts that he both a) loved the city and fans and his time here and b) was always going to leave at the first opportunity. Both can be true.
