It's been a fun ride going through the 5 stages of grief with you all. Still shocking Gaudreau chose less money, less winning, and a mediocre destination but that is the right of a UFA. Has to be one of the stranger signing in NHL history.
It was a solid 8 years of play on great value contracts, ending in one of the most exciting seasons in Flames history. Pretty good for a 4th rounder and still better asset management than trading for Cammilleri and losing him for nothing... twice.
The Flames still have a 100 point scorer, a Selke nominee, and a Vezina nominee with a generally young core. Let's see what they can do under Sutter next season and the team can re-calibrate for the future at the 2023 trade deadline and draft.

Stopped commenting on this string 4 days ago! And its still going and at the top!
4 days no comment.
Tavares told the NYIS he would leave for TO and was roundingly booed in NY. Legacy be damned.
Eichel made it clear he wanted out of Buffalo and during his "tribute" video he was booed more than cheered and BTW took it like a man a shot right back.
Johnny and his family were treated like royalty here. The family repeatedly told everyone they loved it here for years. Said nothing until the 11th hour and left.
Johnny will get booed when he returns.
Really not interested in "fans" who don't apparantly want his feelings hurt.
I'll leave this string alone for another 4-5 days and see if its still at the top.
He just comes across as a little immature (not juvenile). Like he just hasn't really experienced 'life'.
Like I'm sure he's gone through plenty of tough times, but he just seems kind of ignorant of how the world works a little bit.
TBH, that’s the impression I get from most interviews with NHLers. The worldly, curious, well-spoken ones are the exception.

He just comes off as a very immature guy including with this stuff:

What a weird ending to his time here. Just strange
Yeah, the flip-flopping until literally the 11th hour suggests that while he thought he wanted to re-sign in Calgary, that was never actually the case. Really bizarre.
Too bad that his legacy in Calgary will end in such a questionable way. It didn’t have to be like that.
Well I told myself I’d probably feel bad about being mad if I watched the spittin chicklets interview… nope. Just confirmed. The teammate line was especially weird. I know he’s an independent contractor, but I cheer for the organization that employs them. Like holy, Dion cried when he was traded. So he can do him and I’ll do me, which isn’t cheering for players like him.
I keep hearing Johnny say that he didn't know himself until 11pm at night (eastern time, I'm assuming Johnny is out in NJ). Now he repeats that again in this interview as the time he called Treliving to inform him of the news. Am I out to lunch or didn't Brad do his press conference about Johnny's decision at around 6 or 7pm MTN at the latest?

Yeah, like 4 or 5 hours before the deadline. The only way that would make sense is if he told Treliving after the press conference he would re-consider but I doubt it.
