We got a 1st, Hanowski and Agostino for Iginla.
We got a 1st, Berra and Cundari for Bouw.
The lacklustre returns (plus ROR, and the Jankowski pick) were enough to get Feaster canned.

That post was clearly sarcasm.
We have had posters question his manhood. His family. His wife. His integrity. His desire. It’s all par for the course.
Next step is the infidelity no? Players wife maybe?
Frankly who gives a #### what reason he left. He left that’s it

Yeah, really lame for people to engage with his family in a toxic way. This response from his uncle is the kind to make you wonder how much toxic social media commentary was taken to heart over the years.

I think back to buying our first house...it's a pretty stressful day and throughout the negotiation a million question marks are running through your mind whether its the right house or not, etc - it can be a total rollercoaster. Now multiply the value of the deal by 100 with a lot more time pressure. It's kinda surprising things don't go off the rails more often.

This is a good point esp about assigning blame. I don't think it's a breakdown in communication tho...
It's safe to assume that at some point, Johnny moved on from the Flames. What we don't know is when he moved on, and what he said when he did.

Either way it’s his choice.
The flames will find some other guy to take their money trying to shoot a puck in a net.
First world problem. The sun will come up tomorrow.

Sorry man, it’s hard to read sarcasm and tone in written form sometimes. I think if you had added a “I’ve heard he’s infertile too” or something at the end it would have made the sarcasm a bit more apparent.
Anyways we’re on the same side that the personal stuff is ridiculous.

Dear lord he is lucky he didn't go to Philly for 10M a year if he thought Calgary was bad. Every single player in the league gets ripped by idiots on social media....Welcome to playing a kids game for millions of dollars.
Guy wanted to collect his 10M a season and also have no pressure to improve his playoff game...I mean he did suck in the playoffs, what are we supposed to say? good try?
He will be happy to not make it next year get a head start at the cottage

[Insert internal screaming .gif]
For Iggy we literally got a 1st rounder and two prospects. Klimchuk was super promising, even if he was considered the safer pick between him and Poirier. Like many picks, he didn't pan out.
And while we didn't get anything for Gio, we also didn't lose anything for giving him to Seattle. Which of these players would you have rather given up to Seattle going into last year. "Mikael Backlund, Dillon Dube, Johnny Gaudreau, Elias Lindholm, Matthew Tkachuk, Andrew Mangiapane and Sean Monahan"
In hindsight, maybe Dube, but I still feel like Dube has longer-term potential than 3rd line Giordano. While it's not adding assets, it is an example of smart asset management.

It's pretty clear the Gaudreau's won't miss Eric Francis. I appears he really got under their skin.

I just don’t think Johnny will excel in Ohio…. I think he’ll drop next season (or the next) very badly. Remember Craig Conroy, he too didn’t want to play in Calgary, signed with LA only to regret that decision later on. Remember who flew out to see Johnny before his signing deadline after the draft who convinced him to sign in Calgary - What lesson did Craig impart on Johnny that was forgotten. I think we’ll have a very sad guy playing in Ohio, I think he’s already starting to suspect it judging from his press conference - the only question is, will he see it like Craig did?

Oof, another twenty pages to wade through today; appreciate the info that was shared from “inside” sources. Some of it might even be true!
I think there are two things that I can reasonably conclude amidst all this speculation of what took place. First: something happened late in the game that really shook things up. Exactly what I do not know, but Johnny ending up in Columbus and in the way that he did was probably not anticipated by ANYONE based on Johnny’s comments and what has been confirmed.
Second, if Edwards was involved, he absolutely would have been upset at “losing” this deal. Whether there was an ultimatum and/or an angry phone call afterwards — who knows what happened or what was said — but you don’t become a billionaire by losing business deals and negotiations.
I also know this: if I just signed a $68M contract to the team and city I wanted to play for, I’d be a lot happier than the guy who showed up at the press conference today. For me it doesn’t pass the smell test.

Boo hoo Jim, which professional athlete doesn't get criticized? He's acting like Johnny doesn't get PAID, it's his damn job to perform like a 10M player.
Good luck with the toxic tweets if Johnny doesn't perform in Columbus.

I mean there are few slights in pro sports worse than Columbus Ohio being chosen ahead of your city, especially when you offered more money…yet John did that to us.
Best of luck to John Gaudreau the man and his family…but from a sports drama perspective? That dude is a villain now. He slighted my city, and that is an unforgivable act in this (silly) context.

Well said. As a fair-weather fan of Team Chaos, this week has been like winning the Stanley Cup. I just wish it wasn’t at the expense of my #1 team; you couldn’t have scripted any of this…

I dunno, if you go look at all of his reply’s to countless tweets, this is the only one where he loses his cool a little bit. All of the other replies are “thank you for sharing your thoughts” to the negative ones and “do t worry, I’m still a flames fan and will still be following and cheering with the rest of you” to the folks saying goodbye to him.
Need to look at the whole picture here. Jim, at least, doesn’t seem to hold anything against the flames at all, but certainly takes issue with a few media and fans that cut down his nephew. Seems fair to me

Calgary is probably the least critical Canadian market I would wager.
And yeah, can you imagine the negativity from Philly fans if Johnny had a bad stretch or a poor playoffs? They'd throw batteries at him and his family.
