The way Feaster is talking it sounds like Domi more than Petan. Built like a Mack truck. But would he take him at 6 if Monahan and Barov are gone?

I'd be alright with that as well, we'd certainly have options.
Yeah, he might fetch more if dealt....especially to a team attempting to win now, with lots of cap space and multiple first round picks....like Columbus.

$6M reasons why Cammy won't go to CLB. Believe CLB looking for younger, cheaper player(s) for their picks.
Still think Cammy to the Sens for picks/prospects makes a lot of Sense

Petan has been invited to our draft combine, so I'm pretty sure it's him being referred to.
In order for us to get Monahan, one of Nurse, Lindholm or Nichushkin needs to be picked before us. If not we probably get Lindholm.

Cammaleri is actually going to make 7 million this year.
Mind you, doesn't matter, his cap hit is still 6.

True. But when I hear Marty St. Louis type frame, I'm looking at someone like Domi who looks well on his way to having those "tree trunk" legs that most seem to value so highly on smaller guys.
Sure Petan could get there one day but that doesn't jive with what Feaster said they are looking for right now in their first rounders.

Could probably add J.T Compher into the mix for smaller forward. 5'10" and a buck sixty five.
EDIT: actually looked and the biggest I have seen him is 184 lbs. Still on the smaller side and could fill out.

I don't want Fucale but if we get Barkov at #6, we can forfeit 22 and 28 and I'd still be happy about our drafting.

I could be wrong but didn't Feaster say that they had the 5'9" player ranked in the top 10? Put me in the scared group when it comes to player rankings if the flames feel Petan is top 10.

Doubt it. I'm guessing they are looking at Petan in the late first or early 2nd. Might be a possibility if we deal the PIT pick for two 2nds.

Many people have him goin in the final 7 picks or so of the 1st round, so I don't see him as a stretch at all with the PIT pick...not even the STL pick really, but this draft is so deep, I think they'd be ridiculed by some for taking him there.

The Flames will be ridiculed no matter who they pick at the draft, because that is the fashionable thing to do right now. They're already fielding criticism for picks they have not yet made, and for "showing their cards" without having said anything about their ranking of specific players. Par for the course, really. And that said, I think Petan in the twenties is a reasonable pick. Not my choice, but certainly not a bad one.

^ Good points.
And I'd like to know why they're being ridiculed about drafting in the first place, seeing as Jankowski hasn't even PANNED OUT yet, to be deemed a truly stupid, or brilliant decision. And none of the players drafted around him that weren't considered "off the board" have surpassed him in any way to this point. So wtf is everyone going on about, exactly? Writers and analysts, too. It's ridiculous and pretty idiotic if they can't recognize that the picking of Jankowski isn't a representation of the Flames drafting as a whole under Feaster's regime, either.
2011 is appearing to be the best draft from the club in ages, and the other 2012 picks weren't out of place in any way from where they were picked.
Sure, I was surprised by our moves in the 1st round last year, but there isn't enough ground to be calling Feaster and co. 'unpredictable' and likely to screw up these future draft picks. To them I ask, what about Jankowski at this point can tell you that he even f-d that up?
Really they're ####ing imbeciles just falling into a pack mentality by beating up on the Flames, instead of forming their own objective or educated opinions by looking at the evidence as a whole to this point. Now I just can't wait until we hit a home run this draft and make them all eat dirt, while we make their favorite bandwagon clubs cry on the ice not too far down the road.

I dont mind if we took Petan with our Pitts pick, but I really hope they go with some size and scoring skill with our St.Louis pick. Either Rychel or Zykov has my vote as I doubt Zykov makes it to his initial 29-30th rank. But if we could get Barkov/Monahan, Rychel, and Zykov- I would be a very happy man and very excited for the future.

I agree. Since he's been passed over 2 or 3 drafts running it's quite likely he's still there in the 7th round. I'd gamble one of our 7ths on him. He has baggage, but people change and there's no doubt he will have grown-up because of that incident.

Yeah people make mistakes. I am just looking at him as a hockey player, I mean really how many defensemen put up 93 points in the WHL even as a 19 year old? That is very impressive.
I would even take him in the 4th or 5th round to be honest. ANd then them him so he can join the Heat next season.

Bell played the year as a forward IIRC. I wouldn't have a problem with a 7th round gamble though.
As for the firsts, the more i read about the draft the more I hope we stockpile picks. While I'd love to move up and grab a Barkov.. I'm not so sure i'd want to do it at the expense of the 22nd or 28th. Monahan and Lindholm are stud prospects and we'll have the chance to get a good player at the backend of the first.
Hopefully Feaster, Weisbrod and Button are doing their homework. 2012 and especially 2011 seem to be high on potential thus far.... but we need them to come up big this year.

I hadn't heard this about Bell, if true this does make him a bit desirable to me. I would hold off until round 6 or 7 if that is the case.
