If we picked up 3 of those 9 I would be absolutely over the moon. Barkov, Domi, and Hartman probably won't drop that far though.
I've followed Domi for the better part of the year and he is who I want. Above anyone else I want Domi.

Why do we have to wait so long til the draft????
I'm going to be glued to my screen... I'm really Feaster keeps the picks, it'll make for a great fan experience
Not 'playoff-win' great... But great nonetheless

Valentin Zykov won CHL rookie of the year. More and more I hope he's our St. Louis pick, or with luck, our Pittsburgh pick.

I would absolutely trade our pick for Columbus' three picks. Five picks in the first round of what's supposed to be a deep draft. None of those players would impact our roster next year, and I'll be shocked if we're not picking in the top five next year.
Draft 5 players this year and expect 3 of them to be able to contribute significantly in three years. Suck next year and try to find a second 1st round pick somewhere. Draft a top 5 prospect in 2014 and hopefully a quality guy in the 20's.
Then, over the next two seasons, we'd have Hudler and Tanguay up front and Giordano and Wideman on the back end as our veterans, Baertschi, Backlund, and Brodie would be on their RFA deals (Or still on the ELC in Baertschi's case); and we'd start to fill in our roster with the plethora of guys from the 2013 draft and our 2014 blue-chipper, plus Gaudreau should hopefully be ready to make the jump then, Jankowski if he pans out, Sieloff and Wotherspoon will hopefully be playing in the NHL on ELC's and one of Gillies or Broissoit will ideally take the reins as our #1G.
Having seven first-round prospects coming onto the roster between 2014 and 2016 plus the rest of the guys in the system and those couple of late-round guys who make the jump would put us in a fantastic position. We'd be young and exciting, and have tons and tons of money to go out and get guys like Bergeron or Letang (UFA 2014), or Bobby Ryan (2015), or E. Staal, Kopitar, or Yandle (2016).

Doubt any of those guys make it to free agency.

I'd rather see us keep #6 and take our scout's best player available. Now that Nichushkin is coming over and it's a big 5, we basically get first pick of the rest, that winning streak at the end of the season hurts bad but we'll get a good player.
What I'm hoping for (pipe dream probably), is that we package 22 and 30 to Buffalo or Columbus to move up with the first pick and move down with the second pick. Grab one of those picks in the mid teens and get a second blue chipper and move the Pitts pick down 10-15 slots and bring in a 2nd rounder. Could maybe walk away with Lindholm and Domi or Shinkaruk and still get a good blue line prospect around 40th.

Would not be a bad move. Todd Button said there are quality players in the top 60. Before i could have seen the flames trading the Pitt pick for a NHL player or moving down to get a 2nd and 3rd round pick. I like your idea better.

I would probably do the trade for CLB's 3 1st rounders, but man would there RFA year be scary if 3+ panned out of the 5 1sts. However, that's a good problem to have.

Outside of the 6th pick, it is unlikely that any of our picks become impact players.
Don't trade quality for quantity.

I wouldn't be inclined to do that the way things are stacking up. One of those three picks is the Los Angeles pick, which means somewhere in the 27-30 range. I'd bet on it being 29-30. One of our picks is the Pittsburgh pick, and that would also put it in the 27-30 range. I'd also bet on it being 29-30. That would leave us with picks 14, 19, 20, 29 and 30, with the 20 and 29/30 being ours.
I'd rather have Lindholm, Gauthier and Mueller (from a mock draft) than have Pulock, Burakovsky, Gauthier, Fucale and Mueller. I think that guy in the six slot has potential to be a star player and possibly develop into a franchise level player. I don't see that with the other names listed. I like the quantity approach, except the Flames already have quantity and now need some high end quality. You keep that early pick and improve your top line for the next decade.

This mock draft has us taking Lindholm, Hagg, & Petan. Interesting.

Didn't realize Columbus also has 3 first rounders this year...

I notice that a lot of people think Winnipeg will go for the legacy pick and take Domi, but I am not sure they would. My memory is a little foggy, but I recall some controversy surrounding Tie Domi when he left Winnipeg. It had something to do with his wife or girlfriend getting accused of shoplifting as a mall and then Tie Domi started playing the; "Don't you know who I am!?" card, and then went on to bash the city after he left.

So...Does everyone agree that we have to take at least ONE D-Man with our three picks? My vote is for Gauthier.

I totally disagree... I it turns out they draft 3 Cs, I'd be just fine with that.
From a devopment perspective, it'd be nice to have a D or 2 early on in the rebuild as they take a bit longer than Fs.

Filatov was given every chance to be an NHL player, and was probably rushed. He washed out, he didn't abandon the NHL. He wasn't good enough for the NHL. Zherdev never really cared, and Radulov is the only player that really fits the 'top player bolting' mould.
Ovechkin and Malkin are here. Datsyuk is here. Gonchar is here. Markov is here. Kovalchuk is here. The best Russians are all here. Why? Because the only thing Russia has on North America is people speaking Russian.
I don't care how many times they make Morozov the captain of the Olympic team, if these players were worth the headache, the NHL would pay the money to keep them. They weren't.
So if you don't want Nichushkin, have that feeling motivated by a prediction that he'll bust. Because that's what everyone outside Radulov was. A bust.
