Thanks Bouwmeester! Decent 1st round pick. Ryan Pulock might drop to 21 or 22.

Fantastic post, thanks getback! The STL pick being between 20 and 23 is pretty huge, there will still be very good players up for grabs at that point. Just the perfect draft to have three 1sts, really.

Also... Makes the pick more attractive to teams in top 4... Barkov anyone?

so if Pittsburgh loses to Ottawa next round their pick goes to 25 and the stl pick gets bumped down again. Tall order but go Sens go.

it's amazing how all that Go IGGY loyalty, go get your cup becomes secondary in the hopes that a pick moves up a spot or 2 .

Iggy winning would definitely be silver lining but if it meant moving up in the draft a couple positions for each of the picks, Iginla can wait till next year.

No, i disagree. Cheering for Iginla is the best part of these playoffs. Moving up a spot or two with that puck doesnt matter to me if he wins.

Yeah, I'm often times as sentimentally attached as anyone to certain players or whatever, and rued the day that Iginla was finally traded, but it's very much worn off. I do miss the guy, he was a huge chunk of this team's soul, and I'll of course not actively root against him, but at this point the priority becomes improving the Calgary Flames. Thus, I'd submit that the time for sentimentality has passed, and that anything that will improve the position of our draft picks in this supposedly quality draft is what I shall be rooting for.
It was this "clinging" to Iginla that cost this organization so very much already and led to his eventual trade coming far too late. To continue rooting him on because he's Iginla even at the expense of our own team's draft position, would be to perpetuate this effect in a sense, if you ask me. He'd win the cup, we'd all be jovial about it for a couple of weeks, but after that wore off, would be left with the bitter taste of the last pick in the 1st round when we could have picked a few spots higher.

Those of you cheering for Iginla rather than the Flames' draft pick.... just keep in mind if he was playing against Calgary, he'd be doing everything in his power to score on them. He's moved on, I suggest you do as well.
Sure, it would be nice to see him win a championship, but that can happen next season.

I'm cheering for Iggy to win this season. When it comes to the cup, there's no such thing as winning it next year. Many great players only make it to the finals once to lose and never get a second shot. He's on a powerhouse right now and with MAF finally riding the bench, he might never get a better chance.
BUT, if he does lose, the better picks will lessen the blow. We win either way, IMO.

I can't cheer for the Pens, even with Iginla on them. There's just no way. Even if there weren't the implications of the draft pick involved, I wouldn't root for them. He can win it with someone else next year, but not this year. Go Isles. Or everyone else afterwards.

The Pens aren't going to win the Cup this year anyway. They'll go back to Fleury and end up getting outworked by someone they can't overwhelm with skill. They might as well lose before the conference finals.

Yup this is exactly how I feel about it.
We cheered for Sutter last year even though he "would have tried to win against us" had we been their opponent. We have our 6th overall pick, and one in the early 20s now, the 3rd pick can be 30th and I'll be happy.
