I like Lindholm due to his drive. Just seems like he is always working hard in his highlight videos. Never seems to give up on any play.

United found this and posted it in the Nichushkin thread. I thought it should go here as well in case people aren't following both.

Igor Eronko ‏@IgorEronko
Valeri Nichushkin says he likes #Flyers & #Rangers most of all, wants to spend summer in NA to train hard #NHLdraft2013

Igor Kleyner ‏@IgorKleyner
Nichushkin is not doing himself any favors re #NHLdraft2013 by stating he will only go to NA to play in the NHL, not minors. Nichushkin's plan for summer is a short vacation in Turkey after U18 WJC and then training all summer long in the US

Stay away. Stay far away. Last time we drafted a prospect that really liked the Rangers? Tom Erixon

I think the Flames will be really turned off by his statement that he doesn't want to play in the minors. I had posed that question in the Nichushkin thread, will he go back to Russia if he's not ready and we try to send him to the minors?

Let's grab us a good Canadian or Scandanavian boy, not a primadonna Russian.

I definitely think interviews will play a huge part in where he gets drafted. I go into that interview pretty leery though, and unless the guy is decked out in a 42 Makarov jersey, I'm not sure I'm changing my mind.

Anyone think Darnell Nurse could end up being better than Jones? The kid seems to have a bit of a nasty side to em.

Flyers can have him. I'm always weary of players of his age with such expectations of what he should receive prior to actually earning anything.

No and if the Flames draft him I will cry like a little girl that just got snubbed by Justin Bieber.

Yes I'm veering Lindholm over Barkov. Looks like an excellent player.

Barring the unlikely that we finish 4th, my ranking for the "next 4":

Lindholm
Nurse
Monahan
..
..
..
..
..
..
Nichuskin

Risk reward as with any prospect but to me the reward with Nichushkin makes him a lot more attractive then anyone in the 3rd wave.
Redline (6th), C. Button (5th), Future Considerations (6th), The Scouting Report (7th), The Hockey News (Jones, Drouin and MacKinnon are their top 3) don't have him top 4. Haven't seen McKeen's list. It'll be interesting to see where he lands on Bob Mackenzie's final list because that will tell us where some actual NHL scouts have him.

Only one scouting service (ISS) has him top 3. Most have him right around Monahan, Lindholm and Nurse. With his risk I'd say he's easily the least attractive in that 2nd tier of prospects.

Thoughts on Petan
Granted he is 5'9" but looks at his stats:

2011-12 Portland Winterhawks WHL 61 14 21 35
2012-13 Portland Winterhawks WHL 71 46 74 120

If you are worried about his size compare him to Tyler Ennis of the Sabres that was also a first round pick who is listed at 5'8":

2006-07 Medicine Hat Tigers WHL 71 26 24 50
2007-08 Medicine Hat Tigers WHL 70 43 48 91
2008-09 Medicine Hat Tigers WHL 61 43 42 85

When the Flames are stuffed to the gills with too much talent and skill then we can start to worry about whether or not a player is too small. Petan is a solid late first, early second round pick and would significantly increase the skill level of our prospects.

Ennis or Nemisz?
Skills or Size?
Potential history all over again?
Below are year to date NHL stats.

25 Calgary Greg Nemisz C Windsor Spitfires [OHL] 15 0 1 1
26 Buffalo Tyler Ennis C Medicine Hat Tigers [WHL] 186 48 75 123

Nichushkin is #10 on the list of players.

Big three - Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin
Three centers - Barkov, Lindholm, Monohan
Threee defense - Nurse, Zadorov, Ristolienen
The Russian - Nichushkin

After these 10 there is a drop off in talent and potential.

There's a drop off but only because the 10 players you mentioned are so good. A lot of the guys after these players would have gone top 10 last season. Some good players available in nearly the entire first round.

Do you guys think there is a chance of Nichushkin being picked in the top 3?

I would be very surprised but not completely shocked.

It is possible that a team falls in love with him and takes him that early but i would guess the number of teams that have him above the big 3 is fairly small.

I would think he is more likely to go 10th than top 3.

Almost no chance IMO.

There's a chance he could go 4-6th though.

Great E.Lindholm video, he just doesn't give up on pucks! How would he compare to Mika Zibanejad? I seem to recall Zibanejad was a similar type of player who's transitioned to the NHL fairly well.
