If Nurse & Nichushkin both go top 5 then there is going to be an even tougher decision to make. Likely between Barkov, Lindholm & Monahan.
I'm a fan of all 3 of these centre prospects. Leaning towards Monahan today, mainly because of reports that say he could be ready next season, he's excellent at face offs & is a big boy.

I assume the choice would be Barkov, and most would be happy with that. However, if we had Barkov on the board and took Lindholm, I would be ok with it, I'm sure there'd be a lot of backlash though.

Honestly, that seems like an easy decision to me... if Feaster doesn't do the fastest sprint to the podium that a fat man has ever done and yell Barkov! Barkov! Barkov! while self high-fiving I'll be disappointed.

Just give me one of the 3 in bold and i would be happy. I really don't care at this point, i think all 3 are going to be good.
My wish is for one of the 3, Jankowski works out, and Backlund takes that next step to being a league wide 2nd line center. If Horak or Reinhart work out as a great 3rd line center, then one of the top 6 centers could be used as trade bait in years to come. We all know how much value a top 6 center has in the trade market.
Imagine going from the worst collection of centers for the last 5 years to having one of the best collection of centers in the NHL. Please Feaster make it be.
The more I go back and watch Monahan the more he reminds me of Rob Niedermayer.
The contrast is kind of striking. Same size. Similar characteristics. Same supposed intangibles. Should go around the same point in the draft. Niedermayer was supposed to become a top center because of his skill and hockey IQ. Interestingly enough, we're coming up on the 20th anniversary of his draft.
My concern with Monahan is that one of the selling points often brought up is that he's Canadian, which to me means people are reaching. I think of our possibles of Barkov/Lindholm/Monahan, Monahan as the highest bust potential. I'm probably wrong though, I'm sure they'll all be fine players.

Now why did you have to go and taint a prospect by comparing him to special neids?
Or is this an overpayment on our part, just to get Barkov rather than Lindholm?
Can't see them having any interest in Tanguay or Cerevenka.
If they are have Barkov, Lindholm, Monahan/Nurse all ranked the same then I could see them going for the Pitts deal but unlikely that they move back two spots if they like one guy better than the others.

not sure why posters think Tanguay has that much value. Not saying he is a salary buuy out but i don't think he is worth a 2nd round pick. Think the flames could get a 4th for him, his contract is to long.
Cervenka is UFA.
Maybe the proposal with Pitt 1st. The problem is if Nashville see's Barkov as the 4th elite player in the draft as well, then they would probably want both late 1st picks. That's if Baarkov is the 4th player Feaster was reffering to as well.
