Do frame by frame comparisons, it's not changing. It's just an animated GIF so it loops, it if was changing then the changes would come at very specific intervals.

I don't buy it either. The shadow that sweeps doesn't relate continually to when she is facing forward or back.

Its well done though.

I'm not a computer expert so I'll just ask.

Could they make a 2 simple gifs (one CW one CCW, each lasting for 1 'rotation') and write a program to alternate between the two after a random number of rotations?

Werid, it get it switching back and forth. I don't think the loop is switching because sometimes it will be 5 seconds clockwise, and then later over 20 seconds clockwise before switching.

It's definitely legit, I know the guy who made that.

Although it has nothing to do with "left or right brain" use.

They could use javascript to switch after a specific amount of time, but not a specific number of rotations, so unless the timing was exact you'd see a visual disruption when they switched most likely.

Disable javascript in your browser or save the GIF and view it through another program to test.

Here's another example of the same kind of illusion, where your perspective can change back and forth. This image is static too. There's a bunch of them like this, it's a well known type of optical illusion.

Really? That's cool!

Yeah I thought the left/right thing was bogus, since I always see it as clockwise first and I'm more left than right brain.

I'm pretty sure 'left and right' brain use in terms of psychology and personality traits are bogus in general.

Anyways, its just an optical illusion, nothing else.

Attaching characteristic traits to the lateralization of the brain is a pseudo-science. Don't put any merit it their classification.

After also looking at it frame by frame I see where the optical illusion happens and how it tricks the brain.

Neat piece of work.

I'm not sure sure about that. I can make her switch whether a specific foot in in the foreground, background or to the side. The best is when one foot hits the ground. I can make her switch every time her one foot touches down.

Pretty cool. At first I could only see CW, but after concentrating on the pivoting foot and the shadow for a long time I could switch. After a while it got easier and easier to make the switch.

I can see her going both ways.

Yeah, concentrate on the foot that stays in the same place and just turns....after a while you'll be able to see half-turn clockwise, half-turn counterclockwise and so on.

I was able to see both. Pretty cool thing although it's hard to tell if it's real or just an illusion.

What do you mean "real or illusion"? The image rotates the same all the time, it's your mind's perception of the image that switches making it appear to go clockwise or counterclockwise.

Here's a good audio one too

I see it going clockwise but after a little concentration I can change it by blinking.
