I tried really hard, but I can't get into Battle Studies at all. I adored Continuum and wanted to like this album, but it just isn't working for me. It's as if the parts I disliked about Continuum (the popish bits devoid of blues) have just been expanded to the length of an entire album. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a good pop song, but these don't do much for me.
New Order is back, minus Peter Hook and under the name Bad Lieutenant.
Its not quite the same without the epic bass runs.
Peter Hook was the best thing about New Order. The music is getting less edgier with every incarnation since Joy Division, but I like the new song.
How can I get all this John Mayer out of my thread? I'm so tired hearing about what a good guitarist he his. There were guys in your high school that were just as good, but didn't have the good looks and good fortune. He is so un-rock and roll.

I don't really know anything about John Mayer. The only song of his that I actually know is the one where he sings about running through a high school. I've always since written him off as not really my thing.
I have since seen him in a few things (non-musical) and from these he appears to not be a d-bag and actually a cool guy.
The wale track that mayer is on isn't too bad, so I think I'm going to give him a chance.
For someone just getting into John Mayer, what should i check out?
What songs off his new album are worth a listen to?
Vivid, Time's Up and Stain are absolutely brilliant. One of my favorite bands, Vernon Reid and Will Calhoun are incredible players. Hell, cannot disregeard Doug Wimbish either, he's a huge part of Stain.
I remember going to a Will Calhoun drum clinic at the old Mother's on 14th & 17th, one of the best performances I have ever seen.

The New York band returns after five years to release its fifth album
I believe Corey Glover has been performing on Broadway during the hiatus. Vernon Reid is amazing.
