I would think the US should send more aid to a democratic nation, then they should to a terrorist organization.....
I also suggest you look at the aid increases to numerous ME countries, after 9/11. Some of them have recieved as high as 10 times more aid, including Pakistan.

Last time I looked we were talking about Israel, which has and does have a special relationship with the USA.
So, you're the self professed expert, were you lying or were you just mistaken?

Israel gets S***loads of funding from the US. Heck, the neo-con wing of the US govt is gladly willing to sacrifice not only American money, but American blood too for the sake of Israel. What do you think one of the biggest reasons for the Iraq war was.
Don't bother responding as I will NEVER read any of your s*** again or ever respond to you again. Anything else I could possibly say to you would result in a ban, so I'll leave it at that.

Read The Trouble With Islam by Irshard Manji. Actually you won't and you'll continue living in this ridiculous mindset you've created for yourself.

About what? That they recieve free weapons, or funding?
If I came across as saying that the US doesn't help Israel, then yes I was wrong. I think you did get my point though. Right?
On the other countries; yes, Israel does recieve around 30% of American foreign aid, and it has been that way since the Carter Administration. So was the US a terrorist nation in the 80's, like some people accuse them of being now, considering the aid hasn't changed?
Or did Bush make them a terrorist nation? Maybe it was Clinton, Bush 41?

I would hesitate to call them free weapons. The US does not give Israel F-16's in exchange for nothing.
Some people believe that Israel has been helping the US through the years in the intelligance field and probably in many other things we don't know about.

I Agree with what your saying, and there is somewhat of a double standard on this board. I've seen some pretty terrible things said to Azure and about Azure, and how racist and how horrible a person he is. But in the heat of a debate, the comment above, which I find to be pretty despicable dosen't warrant much reaction.
Oh well after being called ignorant and some other pretty misguided things lately here, I've decided to not participate in threads like this anymore. I don't have enough room on my ignore list, and need to save some space for hockey season.

And 'some people believe that Israel has been' calling the shots in the ME and Bush is their lapdog.
There are many reports of Israel spying on the US. Here is one
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/...in639143.shtml
Israel is out for itself and no one else, don't get confused.

Well Azure wasn't exactly acting nice when she told some one to shut up. When someone starts tossing degrading remarks, I take it as a sign they'er losing, so I won't take hsd's comments seriously.
I read somewhere that when a poster calls another a Nazi, it's a sign that the thread is over. Is this a first for Calgary puck?

I don't know, I haven't been around that long but I think it is quite dispicable and I don't think any of us should put up with it regardless of what stance you have on the position.

Very true. But I would go as far as to say that the US is ruled by Israel.
If they were, the military and economic aid would be much higher.

Azure would be a he.
And there is a big difference between saying shutup to someone that is throwing out insulting remarks to respected members, and someone who calls me the "absolute scum of the earth."

Sorry about that pronoun.
There is never a time for calling another rotten names and I try to avoid it. Shows no class and is reflective of the person tossing them out.

Yes, and I've kinda figured that out in the past few weeks.
Sadly, some people call me a Nazi for being pro-Israel.

Respected members? Kind of elevating yourself aren't you Azure? j/k
I've just finished reading through the last day's posts and, wow, have things gotten ugly. I know Israel and the Jewish plight is an issue to polarize people, but it got ugly quick. Dumb-sweet-dumb really went off the deep end. I don't agree with Azure on pretty well everything (the sky is blue mother****er!!!) but to call him a Jewish Hitler was low. Funny as hell, but low. I think that we have to ry and walk a mile in the sandals of those we are defending and accusing. I think that when we do this it is easier to understand the issues. Also, we have to look at things from a context other than our own. People in the Middle East don't live like North Americans, so they are not going to act like North Americans. Try and get some insight into their world and how they live and think, and then try to understand their point of view. I think that if we do that we have a better chance of seeing the err in our/their ways.
Now, back on subject, Azure, shut up you Jew lovin' Nazi!!!

I found a couple of interesting things on the "U.S. aid to Israel" subject.
Please note each source.
http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/...reign_aid.html
http://www.miftah.org/Display.cfm?Do...3&CategoryId=4
The first one noted how only 26% of the Foreign Military Financing can be spent in Israel for military procurment - 3/4 are spent in the U.S.
It also noted that "Each year, an amount equal to the funds Israel spends on settlements in the territories will be deducted from the loan amount, along with all fees and subsidies."
Money can only be spent in the pre-1967 boarders.
The second site made note of a couple of things that I had not thought of before. (This would be how the 'other side' see it, I guess) -
"Transforms Palestine into a military test ground..The US depends on Israel to test new military technologies in war condiditions." A testing ground for targeting systems and amunition (all that to make sure m-16s don't jam in the sand?) I don't quite see why, but it does not sound too far fetched to me.
Yes, the aid is disproportional and costs the American people economiclly, but what foreign aid doesn't?
Yes, Israel has a special relationship with the US, so does Canada.
Israel wants to lessen it's dependance on US aid, but I think once you are at the table, it is hard to stop eating.

That is a shame Cap't. Seems to me that the tougher the topic, the more I appreciate your posts. Hope you reconsider.
As for saving room on the ignore list... well take it from me, you can have lots on there... Seems the inmates are starting to run the asylum here on CP... too bad.
