Default Invisibility Cloak now more then just a theory?

WASHINGTON -- Scientists are boldly going where only fiction has gone before -- to develop a Cloak of Invisibility. It isn't quite ready to hide a Romulan space ship from Capt. James T. Kirk or to disguise Harry Potter, but it is a significant start and could show the way to more sophisticated designs.

In this first successful experiment, researchers from the United States and England were able to cloak a copper cylinder.

It's like a mirage, where heat causes the bending of light rays and cloaks the road ahead behind an image of the sky.

I'm not sure that we would ever be able to see this technology at a public level, but wow. Here's some links to original postings about 5 months ago. http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...ighlight=cloak

When I first posted about it 5 months ago I figured it would be something that would never happen in the short term, and maybe never really be a success at any point. If developed fully this would be scary when used in a military function.

I read this the other day and was going to post it, but decided on sleep instead

Pretty cool if they can get it to work.

I don't completely understand what you would do if you lost it. Would you even bother to go looking?

They don't really mention how it moves the waves around the cloak, but I imagine it requires a power source. Just don't forget to turn off the battery maybe? lol

Also from what I read back a few months ago, and from what it says about the materials now used in the current construction it doesn't seem like it would be a light cloak material. Metal, and circuitboard materials might make it fairly heavy, and possibly solid, so maybe you'd trip over it eventually.

I can only imagine what kind of hell this thing would raise for lawmakers if there was no way to detect it since it allows sensory waves to travel around it.

There is one problem however... it also bends light when you are inside it. So to the person inside, it appears the world is black. Blind as a bat since light isn't getting through, and instead being detoured around you.

Scientifically it makes sense. But it's still impressive as hell of they get it to work perfectly. WOW.
