No, you said he was lazy and didn't play defence. That is a considerably different statement, and one made in complete ignorance because highlight packages simply are not designed to highlight defence.

Um yeah, that's exactly what you did.
He's arguing that a player who supposedly does not play good defence can still succeed in the NHL and provided examples. He did not say that Howse is the next Ovechkin or Kovalchuk. That latter statement is a fabrication invented by your own mind.

Nobody on this forum understands adjectives or context? Little lazy and doesn't really play defense IN THE CLIPS I AM WATCHING... Jesus, you guys really think I don't know that you don't see the majority of good defensive plays in those situations? What you do see is the defensive breakdowns and from them it is noticeable that Howse is a little floaty at times, don't believe me go watch them and realize it for yourself instead of arguing the point that I haven't watched the kid play for my entire life.

Again, the only way a player can get away with that IS TO BE the next Ovechkin or Kovalchuk... Otherwise you are a Brunnstrom/Wellwood/Afinogenov and have trouble sticking in the NHL(oh wow my point exactly...).

Still makes no sense to use three fifty goal scorers for his argument. That's just as silly as saying I can make it in the NHL even though my defence is horrid.

Never actually seen this guy play but his stats should get him a spot on the WJ team this year. Looking forward to seeing him then.

Anybody who can score at that pace in the tight checking WHL will be a sure-fire superstar.

/Pavel Brendl's agent

Seriously though, that is a pretty amazing goal total. I have high hopes.

I have watched ryan howse in one highlight video and from what i have seen he has got to be at least a 600 goal 1300 point man in the nhl... BOOK IT!

He's not close at all, but he is a great NHL prospect. Patience will be a virtue.

I've watched him play in Chilliwack quite a bit and Howse has a good shot and a release that gets the puck away in a hurry. He is creative offensively and is more of a sniper than a playmaker. His stick handling, and also lateral movement with or without the puck is good and as a result he creates opportunities which makes him really fun to watch play. His defensive play is developing and much credit to a great coach in Marc Habscheid. He should excel in the WHL this year and deserves serious consideration for the WJ team.

I'm not a Flames fan but if I were I'd be excited about him as a prospect, he will do well this year and I look forward to see him in a Heat uniform next year. If the Flames don't rush him I think they have a winner on their hands and a steal considering where he was drafted. Good pick from your scouting staff, the kid can play hockey.

Thumbs up

Check out the goal Howse scores on the breakaway against Kootenay!!!!! The way he accepts the pass and the move on the goalie are awesome. Just on case you don't know Howse is number 22.

^ Nice move to control that puck.

Still leading the league in goals/game and 2nd in points/game. Kid looks like he could definitely be a steal of a pick as long as he can transfer his skills from WHL to NHL.

Another guy that has really impressed this season is Patrick Holland. Tied for 14th in WHL scoring and 1st in scoring on his team. Pretty impressive for last years 7th round pick.

^^ Holland is looking very good actually. Not afraid to drop the mitts either. I am starting to like our prospect situation a bit more with some emerging talent showcasing itself this year.

I thought he floated quite a bit when I seen him play, reminds of the way Iginla plays now. Thats not necessarily a bad thing if he can find the open space though. Not everyone is a power forward.

Luckily for me I get to see him play 20+ a year...whether its between the Giants or just @ Chilliwack. Yes, he's a snipe show. His "defensive liabilities" aren't much of a liability. Scoring in the WHL is overrated though. Hell, Brendan Gallagher a short little midget is leading the league in goals. But Howse is a hell of a talent and has a lot of potential.
