i don't understand your logic. Howse is 19, not 17 or 18

It really is nice to know that Howse and Cameron are in the system, and Brodie is on the big team. Who honestly thought we had some legit ingredients in the cupboard last year? Not me. It's good for the future and makes me less worried about 3 years from now.

Howse's goals appear between 1:25 and 1:55. Couldn't see the last one that great, but it looks like they were all wristers.
He looks like's he's all finisher. Great hands with a quick release. A future replacement for Iginla's goals is definitely welcomed!

As a 20 year old you expect a player to dominate, like Cameron last year. Howse just turned 19 so he is in that group of 18-19 or 3rd year Junior category. Essentially a year developmentally younder then Cameron and still putting up these numbers.

Also he was a big scorer as an 18 year old last year too.Either way his finishing looks promoising and I hope Wahl or Backlund can feed him.

33 goals as a 17 year old, 47 as an 18 and what he's done so far this year. Huge numbers for his age in each season. The kind of offence you expect from a kid one year older.

Can anyone else figure out a way to view the videos for the first 4 games of the season? I was going to try and make a video but their links aren't working for me. Post the links if you can get them.

One thing I can tell from watching last 5 games highlights are he has a pretty good release and aim, really needs to work on his defense though. Going to take a bit of work to transfer his skills over to the NHL, probably at least a year in Abbottsford to get up to speed and become less of a liability.

At this rate he'd beat Brendl's 70 some goals which is the highest total in recent memory that I can recall.

Very impressive start to the season, let's hope he can keep it up and make the World Junior team.

I don't think he can continue this pace but if he is sitting near 35-40 goals you would think he would be a shoe in for the WJC.

Well Brendl had his own issues that Howse doesn't appear to have. He was an awkward skater, a cherry picker, and seemed to have conditioning and work ethic issues.

What they appear to have in common is elite finishing ability.

Not that I know a whole lot about him but after viewing the highlights from this season this is exactly what he needs to work on to become an NHL forward.

He has a great release but is a little lazy and doesn't really play defense in the clips I am watching right now.

He is a great prospect for where we drafted him but he definitely has a ways to go, probably a couple years in Abbottsford at least would be my guess.

I've watch a couple full games of the kid. He is usually the best player on the ice for both teams.

I don't think he is a defensive liability as he regularly plays the pk.

If you don't know a lot about him, why make definitive statements about "what he needs to work on to become an NHL forward?"

Sorry to pick on you specifically but thats one thing that bugs me about amateur-amateur scouting. You have no idea, but you post that and suddenly a bunch of people around here get it in their heads that Howse is a lazy, one dimensional player, which really is not the truth at all.

He's not a Selke winner out there but he's really worked hard the last couple years on his defensive game and fitness and last year and this year so far has played in every situation.

I was just commenting on all the highlight clips I just watched to make a highlight video for him... He often cherry picks and is also often seen floating into the picture just as the other team scores.

Lots of offensive players have this problem, the ones that learn to overcome it are the ones that make it into the NHL.

I don't get why you are freaking out as I just said that is what he needs to work on otherwise he could turn out like A LOT of other WHL/AHL guys that excel at that level but can't take the step to the NHL.

It is the only thing holding him back, his release is second to few even in the NHL and he knows exactly where to go to score goals.

Here is my highlights video. First one I have ever made.
