He was injured, didnt play in the prospect camp and was sent down pretty early in the main camp, dont even think he practiced with the main camp because he was sent down early because of the injury.

I could be wrong with some of the specifics, but I know you didnt play in the prospect tourney.

I believe he was injured. I don't think he played a single game in Penticton. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

47 goals last season, the sky's the limit this season. Looking like a possible steal for the Flames.

How has his defensive/effort game looked? Is he improving that aspect of his game any?

Chilliwack is coming to Calgary Oct. 29 to play the Hitmen. Before that Chilliwack plays Edmonton Oct.27 and that game is on Shaw channel. A couple of opportunities to see him play in the next couple of weeks.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if he had no defensive game. We need someone who can score goals! Let the kid develop into a scoring machine before we talk about D.

Just sayin

I haven't seen him at all this season personally, but in one of the Vancouver papers yesterday his head coach was raving about the improvement of his overall game. I guess you kinda expect that a bit from your head coach when you're dominating offensively, but it was great to read.

Defense is quite a bit easier to teach than offense. If his overall game is sounding good, then that's a huge bonus already.

Fair question, but if he can score like he is (at the pro level, which obviously remains to be seen), my take is, who the hell cares? Now, understand I'm not saying he is going to be as good as the players I'm about to mention, but I don't think too many coaches were expecting Mike Bossy or Brett Hull to play sound defense. Hitchcock in Dallas tried to get Hull to play defense and found himself with an unhappy guy not doing what had resulted in him scoring at a ridiculous rate to that point and playing mediocre in almost every sense of the word.

If his scoring can be remotely close to being replicated in the NHL, defense (beyond the most basic skills) should not be a major concern.

How on earth do you have a stat line of 14 goals and 3 assists? Just seems completely implausible.

Does he pass the puck at all? Were those 3 assists simply as a result of rebounds?

His stats look like he should be contending for the Cy Young award.

I'll take it, though.

Woo sniper. I know it's junior, but this kid sounds like a pure goal scorer. If it translates well to the NHL, that is a great draft pick.

It doesn't seem like much, for him to reach those totals as a 17-18-19 year old rather than an 18-19-20 year old is huge. Augers well for his potential. Looking forward to seeing what he can do in camp next year.

Anyone have any video of his goals? Would love to see the speed and release of his shot.

Searched on youtube and found nothing.

Well here's highlights from the game: http://www.chilliwackbruins.com/vide...6edd0981203784

Howse's goals appear between 1:25 and 1:55. Couldn't see the last one that great, but it looks like they were all wristers.

Looks like he has a Steven Stamkos prescence on the PP, but on the right side instead.

And the refs sure let them play? Alot of hooking and slashing in the highlights that seemed to go uncalled.

I don't know anything about Chilli-whack, but maybe his linemates are bad snipers +/- good setup men?
