Yes. It happened. Is CP ready for the awesomeness that will result from a D&D thread? Let us find out.
Agree or Disagree: D&D and other roleplaying games are awesome and anyone who doesn't/hasn't played them is missing out on one of the great joys of life.
Agree or Disagree: 3.5 is superior in every way to 4th edition. 4th ed is for kids who were raised on video games and has no place at the RPG table.
Agree or Disagree: The White Wolf d10 system is superior to the d20 system, although their standard x-splat/y-splat methodology for character creation is flawed.
Agree or Disagree: 80% or more of the posts in this thread will contain at least one reference to: a) nerds b) virginity c) living with your parents or d) all of the above.
I am shocked that D&D still exists?? Shouldn't all the nerds be in a lineup at the Apple store?
Pathfinder freaking rules. I've been playing it since the beta test version. My only quibble is that the main book is gigantic. I feel like they crammed a whole bunch of stuff in there that really should have gone into a DM guide.
3.5/Pathfinder are both solid tabletop rpg's. 4th is much slower and I find it easier to keep the players interested with a fast game pace.
Also my game of choice is not 3.5, Earthdawn is definately my favorite RPG.
Its theme is creepy as hell as everyone starts off the game in an underground vault much like in Fallout and when you leave you enter a world taken over my Horrors which basically eat magic and corrupt everything around them. They can Horror Mark anyone and twist and corrupt them to there whim.
Also instead of using d20's the game uses a step chart which tells you which dice to roll based on your rank in something. They also made a great Dodge/Armor system that seperates the two and Armor is basically DR. The casting system is also pretty sweet as you have unlimited mana but your required to spend turns channelling, did I mention the spells are badass?

You missed the last 20 years - the nerds have won. Nerds perfectly adapted to interwebz and technology in general, and now that dating has moved online, we even get the women...
That's so weird, I was just thinking on the drive home from work about how I missed playing D&D and wondered if I shouldn't hit up the Sentry Box sometime soon for old times sake.
I played D&D for years but fell out of it before 4th Edition came around so I don't really know too much about the system but remember being skeptical because of how shortly it was released after 3.5. Seemed more like a cash grab edition to me at the time.
I'm still fond of the d20 system over the others that just use one type of die for everything like Shadowrun's d6 system requiring a billion six sided dice. It just seems neater to have a bag of all your multi-sided dice than a box of d6s or d10s. (My original sentence was "It just seems cooler..." but then I remembered what I was talking about.)
We had an epic campaign run by an old friend of mine set in the Forgotten Realms that ran about 3 and a half years and 26 character levels. And once in a while when I was up to DMing an adventure we'd spend an evening in Ravenloft.

I played DD once in college, it became far more hilarious when your drunk out of your mind.
I found a cursed rope and threw it at one of our party members and it killed him. Of course I was blameless chaotic evil, I was just trying to show him the rope.
Then I convinced another party member that there was something glistening in a fast running stream, when he leaned over to see it, I kicked him in the a%% and he fell in and drowned.
I wasn't invited back to play.

I think I'll have to agree. I figured there was a 90% chance the first reply would involve that.
Anyways, I really can't speak for the topic. I played once and it ended when our group decided to break open hell by stretching rules as far as they would go (something about bluffing our evil guy was good or something).
