So - any update Burn?

I picked up a guitar last night, it's been 15 years. Now I need some simple tab and refreshers to bring it all back.

It's going ok. I was using this site http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/ (most of the info is in their forums) but it didn't really go anywhere for me. There wasn't really enough flexibility for me as a total novice. It seems like a much better site if you have the basics down and you want to work on particular techniques. Starting Tuesday I'll actually be taking lessons from someone who is pretty experienced with guitar and has given lessons before. So hopefully I'll learn better and have more motivation.

I guess you can't go wrong with Stairway but don't play it in a guitar store It's a decent song that will teach you a variety of techniques including a slide, some chords, some fingerpicking, etc. It's one of the songs I started with when I taught myself guitar over the internet with tabs.

I found this site this morning, and promptly printed out the lessons (for the weekend). They look like a good mix of technical practice with some songs to see progress.

(that is Lesson 7, go to 1)

Now I just have to dive in and hope that I can play Folsom Prison Blues by Oct!!
