Vintage is my favourite place for steak. You're looking at a pricey meal if you go there, though. I normally spend about $100 per person, but that's with appetizers, dessert, and a bottle of wine. If you just order a main course, you could probably get by on $30-40 per person.

I think steaks are the one thing that most people can prepare as good as or better than the restaurants. I believe they should always be served RARE (or medium rare at the most).
Marinate the steaks overnight with olive oil, minced garlic and steak salt. BBQ to rare, and serve with a peppercorn sauce (red wine, red onion, and green peppercorns). Superb.
Elk and Ostrich steaks are also great, and really need to be served rare, much more than beef.

I have always been fond of Hy's. Sizzles (not the Sizzler) off of Sirocco used to be great, but not so much.
Chicago chophouse used to have a mean Filet Mignon.

The only steak house I go to is Hy's.
Steaks are great, I've been told the seafood is pretty good, and the cheeze toast is the best in town.
Not too expensive. Took the girlfriend there for Valentines, and it was only $125 for the two of us.

Chicago chophouse is horrible.
The way I always describe it to people is that it is the restaraunt that people with bad taste in restaurants take other people to impress them with their taste in restaurants.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Nicks. OMG, mouthwatering delicious, grilled to perfection goodness. And very well priced, the steak sandwich is about $15, I think an 8oz is less than $20. I can't say enough good things about this place.

I concurr with BBS on Hy's. Took the now-ex gf there for 4 year anniversary. I think the whole thing set me back about $150, but that was one of the best meals I ever had. Too bad I wasted it on that whore.

Hy's
Caesar's
Nick's
Smuggler's Inn
The Keg
Vintage Chophouse really struggled with our large party last time I was there, and they gave me a well-done steak even though I ordered medium-rare, and the waiter insisted it was medium rare and wouldn't exchange it.
Might be better with just two people though.
I've never been to Chicago Chophouse. I've heard so many bad things about it I've avoided it like the plague.
Ric's Grill sucked, BTW. My steak was cold for some reason.

I've only ever been to the Keg's across from Foothills Hospital, so I can't attest to the other locations

People I tell this to never get it: But Japanese Village is where i've had some of the best steaks! The thing i really like about it, is no matter how you get your steak cooked, your getting it HOT right off the grill.
...and if your really lazy, they even cut it for you!

In the last few months, to me it seems that their quality has really gone downhill. Although I feel the same way about the Keg, not sure if it's just overall beef quality these days.

Best steak i ever had was at Red Devil in Crowfoot..
New York stake, medium, with peppercorn sauce.
$24 but man was it ever the best thing in the world...
And apparently, the chef was just the kitchen manager filling in for a chef who was sick or something...

Smuggler's Inn - Prime Rib is amazing, plus a pretty sweet salad bar with French Onion soup!
