Default Over 200 people freeze for 5 minutes in NYC's Grand Central Station [video]

I didn't see this posted yet...thought it was a pretty neat video.

On a cold Saturday in New York City, the world’s largest train station came to a sudden halt. Over 200 Improv Everywhere Agents froze in place at the exact same second for five minutes in the Main Concourse of Grand Central Station.
Video and details here: http://www.improveverywhere.com/2008...grand-central/

They have a bunch of other "missions" worth checking out as well.

Ha! I love the dude in the little buggy just laying on the horn.

While it seems kind of stupid, it looks really cool. I like the fact that they got applause afterward and then just walked away.

I'm amazed some of those people managed to stay still for that long in those positions - I get all twitchy if I try to stay still for more than 5 seconds, never mind 5 minutes. That was pretty cool, though - I'm actually surprised someone didn't freak out and start running for it, screaming, "It's all over man! The zombies are here, get out before they start moving again!"

Improv Everywhere is awsome.

The suicide jumper and Best Buy were the best they've done, imo:

the best buy one is hilarious. the agent reports were good. why the heck do the managers get so bent out of shape? it's like they think these people really are terrorists or a cult or something or crazy protesters. all they did was stand around and occasionally be helpful to the customers.

That's a pretty neat video. I was witness to something similar one day in Rome. I was at the main train station when about 50 people walked through at super slow speed. It took them about 15 minutes to walk from one end to the other. Naturally, they were immune to peoples' attempts to break their concentration. I wonder if that's on youtube somewhere...

I wish we did stuff like that in Calgary. If enough ppl interested, I would like to do a cellphone prank. Imagine 50 or so ppl in a store like chapters, then the phone rings for all 50 people at once, and everyone answers at the same time, all saying the same thing, then all leave at the same time.

That's a pretty cool idea. You could do something like that on the CTrain with 20 people.

I love weird stuff like this probably because I dislike conventional theatre so much. Its just awful.
That's the beauty of OYR: lots of experimental stuff. Many more hits than misses, some really big hits, and a lot of very unique experiences that only a certain kind of theatre can give you. In Kleskavania remains one of my favourite theatre-going experiences.

And the type of performance art this group puts on is a lot better than some of the David Blaine style stunting which gets more press.
