Take a breather? I'm really quite calm.
But it's ridiculous to me that a league like the NHL can charge a team roughly $500 million, AFTER they have built an NHL arena, and they have no idea what rules to put in place to make them competitive.
It's so short sighted. And very NHL of them. Just give us your money and we will work out the details later.

The NHL is a joke of a league, dont get me wrong I love the Flames but those in charge are just terrible...the worst. The day we see a new commissioner and a revamp of the Instant replay reviews will be the day I respect this league even more.
Pro Sport rankings base don how they are run IMO:
1.MLB
2.NFL
3.NBA
4. NHL
Hell NASCAR has done more for it's "sport" over the past 5 years than the NHL.

Your hate is misplaced. The Owners are what make the NHL a terrible product.

Very true, but I hate Gary Bettman just as much as those owners.

McPhee said he's hoping to start announcing trades next week and expects to start hearing more from teams as the expansion draft begins to loom.
"I'm hoping that we can start doing that next week, this week's pretty busy with the amateur draft. Then, we're going to switch our focus to the expansion draft and we're expecting a lot more conversation and a lot more depth to the conversations. I'm hoping that we can start getting a few deals done because I think it's going to be a lot to ask to do them all within the expansion window."
|
Quote:
"We're hoping we can sign some folks," McPhee said. "It is unique and there are some instances where it would be the best way to go for certain clubs, it's the best player available. But, we'll see how the negotiations go because we don't know until we get into that window whether that player is interested in us and what kind of deal can be struck. We'll see what develops there, but that counts as your claim and we're going to be aggressive there."

No sport is without their mistakes. The NHL just seems more obvious to us because we follow it so closely.
I don't mean to pile on but your rankings and perception of the NHL is misplaced. Changing a few minor details about expansion, that just about everyone supports, was done out in the open and is probably only going to benefit the teams, players and league does not make the NHL a joke.
MLB had one of the most openly corrupt commissioners in sports in charge for years and years. Bud Selig was guilty of collusion to screw the players and frequently made business decisions at the detriment of the league, the city of Milwaukee, its fans and the team quality, just so he could line his own pockets because he owned the Brewers. He literally made major, league wide decisions regarding revenue sharing just so he could get more money directed to the team he owned. He was responsible for turning a blind eye to the steroid era. The list goes on...
The NFL, while run like a well oiled machine from a marketing perspective, had a commish who has openly fought against CTE research, made an ass of himself by condoning domestic violence and was even involved in forcing Al Michaels at NBC to read a blatantly false and scripted supporting statement of the commissioner's disgusting actions during the Ray Rice scandal. They had replacement refs ruin a decent chunk of the season a few years ago. The list goes on...
Nascar has been forced to pursue increasingly desperate gimmicks as the popularity of turning left 400 times in a row has dwindled. They now have numerous hilarious manufactured rules to help present the illusion of competition.
Although none of those hold a candle to the all time trinity of corruption from FIFA, the IOC and Formula 1. Bernie Ecclestone (the head of F1) was once (about to be) convicted of bribing German officials and literally just laughed in the face of anyone and everyone who challenged his blatantly corrupt actions and just paid a fine to make it all go away. He then went on to run F1 for the next several years unchallenged. Oh and he made comments supporting hitler, has made numerous misogynistic comments about women and has long been suspected (lol as if there's any doubt) of taking huge bribes from vicious dictators in countries around the world in exchange for hosting an F1 race.

You know I would probably watch the awards but rarely get around to it because I'm usually not in front of the TV when they are on. You get pretty drained after watching the long playoffs and living in Calgary when the weather is nice I'm not going to be indoors early evening unless it's must see TV.

I don't know why you guys are even bothering.
Winning drafts if the #1 specialty of the Edmonton for the past decade because E=NG. Las Vegas may be the expansion team, but someone Edmonton will end up on top.

Might not be many unknown players by the time the announcements start with the insiders having at least 10 hours between confirmation and the start of the show.

NHL announces more expansion draft rules.
June 12: Deadline for teams to ask that a player waive their no-move clause. For Nashville and Pittsburgh, the deadline is the day after the cup final if that’s later than June 12. The time is 5 p.m. (all times are Eastern Time).
June 14: The last possible day for the Stanley Cup Final
June 15: The buyout window opens. For players with no-move clauses, the team must ask first if they wish to go through waivers before being bought out. To effect a buyout prior to the expansion draft, that request has to be made on this day.
June 16: Last chance to place players on waivers is noon. Players who were asked to waive their no-move clause for the expansion draft have until 5 p.m. to agree.
June 17: Waiver and trade freeze begins at 3 p.m. for all teams except Vegas. A moratorium on signing players to new SPCs begins at the same time (this includes a team’s UFAs and RFAs as well as any other new signing). The protection lists must be submitted by 5 p.m.
June 18: The NHL will distribute the approved lists by 10 a.m. to all NHL teams. The exposed UFA/RFA interview period for Vegas opens at the same time.
June 21: Vegas must submit their list of the lucky 30 players to the NHL by 10 a.m. and include any new SPCs signed for free agents. The names will be released as part of the NHL awards that evening.
June 22: The trade, signing and waiver freeze is lifted at 8 a.m. and all returns to normal.
The draft begins June 23, so the window to make trades is very compressed prior to the actual draft beginning. But the window to talk about them, is as long as it ever was.
This means if the Flames are going to get a starting goaltender it has to be before June 17.

I wonder how many leaks there will be of teams asking players to waive their NMC.
