I am about 5 episodes behind right now. Is this season as good as season 4?

I'm two episodes behind, and so far - not really. But that could change.

when i first saw Aster in the last episode i groaned, figuring it would be just more pre-teen angst. never saw that mini-arc coming, i damn near fist pumped when Dexter beat the #### out of that step dad. and wow at the ending, there's so many ways they could finish the season off from there but it looks like an epic ending no matter what

Amazing, how one show manages to be so awesome every season is beyond me. The mini preview for the final episodes this season look to be up there with the best seasons of Dexter.

This season might have started a bit slow, but wow I think we are in for a real treat in the final ones.

This was definitely the best episode of the season. Still loving the Laguerta subplot...who knows what else about Dexter's cases could be in that file room?

Excited for the next one!

ya I agree in the Laguerta sub plot

last year I didn't really care about any of the sub-plots going on outside of Dexter, but Trinity was so amazing that the season was still excellent, but this year the sub-plots all around are interesting

I could care less about Laguerta. She hasn't been an interesting character since she got her job back by sleeping with her boss's fiance. I could care less that she's having problems with Angel. I just wish she'd be a supporting character like Matsuka, who doesn't get storylines.

Yeah that episode was possibly the best of the season.

How would you rank the seasons so far?

Best to worst: 1 (Ice Truck Killer), 4 (John Lithgow), 5 (current), 3 (Miguel), 2 (Lila... oh how I hated her)

Depending how the last few episodes go it could move up on the list.

For me personally

4. Lithgow was just so good, and it had an unforgettable ending.

2. The closest Dexter ever was to being caught

1. Some great moments, and a fantastic finale

5. Started slow, but has really picked up lately.

3. I just don't believe anything Jimmy Smits does. His role of Miguel Prado was no different. Was bored by this season.

my personal opinions:

1. ice truck, just soo good, it drawed me into the series
4. lithgow was good, good story
2. the dexter almost getting caught, panic of how to get out his predicament
5. current season i am enjoying, but doesnt match up to ^ seasons
3. just not good, prado was horrible.

2. Doakes chasing Dexter was great
4. All pretty much because of Trinity, if Lithgow wasn't so great it would probly switch to 3rd place
1. great season all around
5. Current one, no chance it drops a place but it could potentially move up to 2nd depending on the last 3 episodes. It's been good so far, the more I see of Lumen the more I like the character

3. worst of the seasons by far, I still liked it but compared to the rest it didn't match up

I think Season 5 has really gotten a lot better in the last two episodes. Should be a good finish.

Pretty hard to rate them. I think the whole series has been fantastic so far. I'm not sure where I'll put this season until it's over. I'm thinking with maybe the first or second seasons. Having to clean up for the finale had this season off to a slow start but it's been getting better and better. The last episode was great!

So far I'd rate them:

4 - Trinity - loved Lithgow in this role and I didn't see the finale coming
2 - Bay Harbour Butcher - almost getting caught by Doakes was great
1 - Ice Truck Killer - learning about Dex's past and how he became what he is got me hooked
3 - Prado - the least exciting season imo, but still great tv.
