Caught up tonight. Really enjoying this season. The writing and acting isn’t perfect, but the storyline is great. There is constant tension and suspense which is not easy to create.

I also had the choppiness on Crave for the last two episodes. Even tried restarting my Telus box because I thought it was a wifi connection issue. Glad it wasn’t just me!

Really superb acting in that episode.

Last two or so episodes are top notch Dexter. They hit the casting out of the park with Kurt & Harrison.

Don't tell me Angela is going to connect everything going back to the BHB. Well, she will just have to be taken out like LaGuerta because I want season 2!

Yup, same thing with Crave on my Telus box. It's so annoying. I just end up watching it on my FireTV stick as it streams a lot better anyways.

That's a bummer. We get it in 4K Dolby Vision on the Showtime app, and is one of the better looking shows I watch.

Wholeheartedly agree that the last few episodes have been great. Knocking the 'Dexter' feel right out of the park. Kurt is a real problem for Dexter and it's believable. Harrison's actor is doing an awesome job too.

The more that the show has focused on the Kurt, Dexter, and Harrison dynamics, the better it has been - by a significant margin. Apparently, Clancy Brown was originally considered for the role of Harry. I think he’s done a fantastic job in this role which is a far more interesting character than Harry ever was.

I worry that the last couple episodes will put more focus on his girlfriend Angela. She has been a weak spot in the season in my opinion.

Her becoming a major player in the last two could drag this thing down, especially if her "connecting the dots" comes across as a leap when she confronts Dexter.

Even with the needle thing, and the sedative connection, it's still not enough for Angela to make any kind of conviction. She needs to catch him carrying out his ritual, which is how I hope it goes down.

I hope its mainly a high stakes game of murder chess between the two dads and the kid with only 1 or 2 getting out alive, since it looks like Kurt is showing up in Dexter's shop next ep as some sort of flex. Should be fun.

I'm also stoked for what looks like a flashback to Dexter's young Miami days where he kills a clown. Its not a kill we've seen before, but looks like it may have some relevance to him telling Harrison about learning the code.

Good stuff. Keep this ride going Showtime!

Guaranteed that Dexter survives, as I'm sure they're ending this season open ended so that it can continue if the reception is good enough. That is unless Michael C. Hall only signed on for a single season and doesn't want to do it anymore. He seems to quite enjoy the role though and doesn't seem super busy, so I wouldn't think that's the case

I'm sure this has been discussed but I suppose another option is Dexter 'dying' but MCH living on as the Harry/Deb for Harrison- It's not an option I prefer, but...

I'm forecasting that Angela connects the dots and figures out Dexter is the Bay Harbour butcher but she dies at the hands of Curt and the secret dies with her.

The batting cage scene reminded me of Happy Gilmore.

I was wondering why he didn't just fade off of the plate to take a swing. Or rush the machine and beat it with the bat after the second time it tried to brush him back.

I interpreted that scene as, after the first pitch hit him, Harrison allowing the rest of the pitches to hit him as a form of masochism/self punishment. I think it was the shots of how close he stood next to the plate that hinted at that.

I'm assuming that's what the point of the scene was as well, but has Harrison shown any previous inclinations to self-harm? I suppose cutting himself to support his story about the knife fight was one, but that was more about supporting his version of events than masochism, or so I thought. I felt it was contrived and unconvincing - why would Kurt, who was trying to appear as a benevolent father figure, keep loading up the machine for him? It just came across to me as poorly conceived and unbelievable.

Although I suppose expecting Dexter to be believable is where I have gone wrong to start with. But it would be a bonus if there was a minimum of internal consistency.

I think Kurt’s sadistic side enjoyed throwing the pitches at him. This might be a bit of a stretch but maybe Harrison is looking for a father figure type to punish him for the things that he has done…

I don't think you're far off.

I think he's done some bad ####, including offing his step mom. The way he tacked on cancer when explaining his moms fate didn't sound natural at all.

Surprised Dexter hasn't prodded into that one a little more given the relationship they had. Hannah might be the one character he actually cared about romantically on an authentic level.

They really need a season two to wade through all these things. You can't tell me Dex will set Harrison up with the code in 2 episodes before being offed or arrested. There's too much to accomplish.

I realize only now with the potential end of the character hanging in the balance how much I'm invested in the character and don't want to see *good* Dexter end here. Not after waiting 8 years.

The way the season started I wouldn't have minded a swift tidy conclusion, but now that the plot has really picked up steam with an interesting new premise and compelling characters with so many directions they can go in, I'm hesitant.

A 30 episode arc would be adequate without leaving you clamoring for more imo

Edit: Also, anybody think they will circle back to the Billionaire to factor into the ending? In this show things/people aren't usually introduced for no reason or strictly as red herrings.

Maybe killing Kurt leads to the big boss which sets up season 2.

I’ve gone back and forth on who Harrison is gonna kill. I’m back to thinking it will be Angela. They’ve kind of phased out the girlfriend so I don’t see why he’d go after her now. He’ll want to protect his dad now that they’re close.

Where the hell did Kurt go? He have an old well that connects to those tunnels or something? Dexter probably should have planned that better and ran him down instead of hugging Harrison.

Seemed to me that the baseball scene was a bit awkward. Kurt clearly knew what was going on and recognized that Harrison wanted to punish himself. It was odd watching him continue to feed those baseballs and Harrison getting whacked and neither of them saying anything. Super creepy from both of them.
