Scientists Move Closer to True Invisibility Device
"A way to vanish matter before your eyes has become a serious possibility thanks to theoretical research announced today by British and American scientists."
"The research suggests a way to build a 'cloaking' or shielding device that renders whatever is placed inside it invisible. It would also nullify the effects of other electromagnetic radiation - meaning that objects sitting within the cloak would be impervious to radar detection."
"The researchers propose to build a special material that wraps around an object and which would 'grab' light heading towards it and make it flow smoothly around the object rather than strike it. To an observer the light would appear to have behaved as if there was nothing there."

Nuts to that. Klingons are well known to have the best cloaking device in the Galaxy!

I think I had a dream about this last night. It said that the objects appear invisible because light bends AROUND it... hmmm... isn't that weird??

If the light bends around the object it's not hitting it therefore making the object invisible.

But the thing I wonder is whether it would be dispersed evenly so that we would actually see what was behind the cloaked object. Or whether there would be a blurry spot where the object is.

Another interesting question.
How would you see if you were in one of these devices?
If all the light coming to you is bending around you, you wouldn't be able to see anything. That is, unless you had some sort of camera mounted outside, which probably ruins the whole invisible thing.

Wait a minute, if you completely bend light around an object, wouldn't the object inside of the cloak be completely blind, and if it bent radar waves, wouldn't any radar device inside be useless.
I fail to see the point of this if you have no situational awareness.

If your only using it say on a range of 270 degrees it would work fine.

I thought of that too, but I was afraid I'd look like a nerd if I pointed it out.
