Anyone know of a local place that has a good web based inventory/pricing list for games?
Sentry Box is archaic and pretty much useless, and Revolution is good, but doesn't have a a couple of the games I am looking for.
I really don't go to any other store, so can't think of any places to search.

I find that with Starlit Citadel who I ordered all our Game of Thrones cards through, that the discount is enough to offset the shipping. If you order several items at once you can piggyback them in on the same shipping charge and actually save some money. Though - you do have to allow half a week for it to arrive.

Had another crazy game, I won with just starting planet and developments. Galactic Federation and then just with Interstellar Bank and Public Works I was able to play develop every turn and then play whatever development I drew.

Just won a game with a consumption strategy: (32 - 28 - 27 - 13). I had 21 in VP chips.
Only six cards in my tableau: Earth's Lost Colony, Empath World, Galactic Resort, Free Trade Assoc <6>, Black Market Trading World (from Colony Ship), Diversified Economy.
After about 4 rounds, I could could X2 consume 2-3 goods every round. I think early blue worlds fit well into a consumption strategy.
(I am playing with Gathering Storm expansion, 4 players, with goals disabled).

My military win was quite decisive, 43-28 in 2 player. No expansions.
I really think that it is by far the easiest strategy to play.
edit:
Just played and won a consumption game. I think now that I have a good understanding of some of these, I should go back to 3 or 4 players.

When buying online I go through Germangames.com. Based out of Ontario. Great prices.
EDIT - sorry missed the "local" part.

A couple friends and I had a pretty great weekend of board gaming. All of our significant others were out of town so we bought some junk food, coffee, and drinks and a couple new games and just went nuts.
Played Through the Ages twice, Pandemic, 7 Wonders about five times, a few games of Dominion, Dominant Species (first time playing it, I thought it was great fun! Not in my top-3 but I am definitely looking forward to playing it again), and then late last night after a couple guys went to bed I stayed up for a 3 1/2 hour marathon game of Twilight Struggle that came down to my opponent winning by 1 point!

Sounds like a fun weekend! It's funny how my idea of a 'good time' has changed over the years. Used to be drinking until all hours at a club and now I'm looking forward to DnD night as much as anything. haha.
Side note - our group of seven just finished out first published adventure with me DMing for the first time. We're really starting to get into how this game is supposed to be played and it's becoming a lot of fun. It's nice to see everyone fully engaged and identifying with not only their own characters but everyone else's.

Has anybody used an automatic card shuffler for board game cards that require frequent shuffling throughout a game, like Bohnanza or Roborally? The stock that cards for games seems to be thicker, so wondering if that would pose a problem. Or is it not worth it?

From the "huh?" category of news...
Words with Friends is now a board game... made by the same people who make Scrabble.

Played a couple games of Through the Ages and Puerto Rico on the weekend.
December 8th a couple friends have committed to a 6-player game of Twilight Imperium. Pretty excited to try it out!

Haha. Just lucky to have a bit of free time lately, and it so happens friends have the same amount of free time.
It won't last forever, I'm sure!
