I don't understand why nobody throws a body check, ever.
Tough to care if the players don't. Anyway, I do (seriously) think playoffs are out of reach. Which is fine it keeps the expectations non-existant so I can just enjoy myself with a beer. I don't mind if they lose like they did in Ottawa, I mind if they lose like they did tonight.
Anyway, the problems have been covered to death, but, the reality is this season is over from a playoffs perspective.

Well by process of elimination. Who playing tonight was not on last year's team. I think Gio being on the sidelines had a positive affect on pushing the team to succeed without him. Now that he's back, I don't know.

So who's this year's Dubnyk? Trade a 3rd rounder for a Vezina caliber goalie. .

I get that there's the whole regression from unsustainable percentages thing but that doesn't explain the change to this degree. Is it really just the ECHL level goaltending that they're getting that's the issue? I don't understand what changed that made this team so damn soft.

The goaltending is definitely an issue but the D is just terrible right now. We can blame Ortio all we want but the reason we weren't playing him earlier is because it was clear that he'd be destroyed when played behind this D.

I disagree.
Hamilton, Brodie, Bennett and Monahan all give me hope (alongside Johnny).
It likely won't pay off this year, but we have legit hope for things going forward. Very simply - championship caliber teams are not built in 3 seasons.

Russell is an actual liability right now....he needs to sit and watch and for the love of god don't extend him. He is a trailer fire right now.

Well when you're having trouble scoring goals and you cant rely on your goalie for timely saves, you run into this hot garbage of a mess. The whole team has zero confidence.

Some of you guys forget the breakaway goals he had in 13/14. Then last year nothing.

I think its a matter of a pointless move to waive Byron. He was a GREAT energy player. Even though he never scores on those breakaways (at least he gets breakaway chances). He never quits on his shifts.
He alone wouldn't single handedly make us good, but man. Watching a guy work his butt off every shift, makes you work harder. Watching guys be lazy, tends to make you a bit lazy too.

He needs to be put on waivers. Absolutely putrid all year.

Gio-Brodie (Brodie more so than Gio) = good
Engelland-Hamilton = average
Wideman-Russell = so so so so so so so bad (Russell more so than Wideman)

This team has many more problems right now than the loss of Byron.

Man, I need a serious break from this team for a little while. Watching them right now is just too painful. Seriously, how do Oilers and Leaf fans put up with this crap year after year? So far we've watched a mere 11 games of suckage, and I'm just about ready to throw myself off a building. Losing is no fun. If they were playing their hearts out and still losing, I'd feel much better about it. But this team is playing like absolute ####e right now. Oilers are probably gonna destroy us tomorrow.

Russell was awful but let's be fair here and not just pile on just Ortio, Wideman, and Russell. Giordano was absolutely horrible tonight. How many more nights are we supposed to sit back and watch the captain play like hot garbage like this? This is not the way you reward a team for giving you a $40 million contract.

Brodie comes back does help, nor will Bouma nor Ferland. The team is in a cluster#### right now. Need to fire someone to stir the pot, or find a Devan Dubnyk version2.0

There isn't one. If we can get Cam Ward without giving up any up of our future we should do it. At least until Gillies is the starter.
We still probably won't get in to the playoffs but at least we will look like a team again because apparently none of the 3 goalies we have can stop pucks.
