They are not mathematically out of it now, but they are semi-close to being realistically out of it.

Anyone who says, 'Oh, but, but, but, we had that 8 game losing streak last year and we ended up just fine' is full of delusion. This is not the same team of last year. Even that team in its 8 game losing streak last year played MILES better than this year's team is playing.

The odds are very low.

The Flames are at least as bad as the Oilers have been the past six years, but thanks to the new draft lottery rules they won't get first overall after first overall, nor do they have the next Gretzky. The Flames are like the Oilers were, but without hope. Just prepare yourself for maybe a decade of this, think of it as comedy (it is hilarious on some level), and enjoy watching Gaudreau before he demands a trade.

Sigalet will be looking for work after tomorrow night.

Blah blah look what he has to work with blah blah

You don't have 3 goalies playing the worst I've ever seen in a Flames uniform and expect to stick around.

Unfortunately, this is too late to fix.

The amount of people who think this team is bad because they waived a fringe fourth liner is ridiculous.

Just a hunch.
Coyotes owners would never let Tippet walk away from his current contract. They bought the team with conditions one of which Tippet had to be signed long term for them to biy the Yotes.

Players I would like to see moved out over the course of this season:
Hudler, Raymond, Backlund, Jones and/or Stajan, Wideman and/or Russell.

Granlund, Arnold, Agostino, Hathaway, Shore, Nakladal, Kulak, Morrison, Wotherspoon, and Culkin could all eventually take their spots. Goaltending has to improve as well, but hopefully that will come with time from what we have in the system.

This team thought they were ready to take a step forward, it hasn't worked out that way. But that's okay - just another part of the rebuild, hopefully Treliving also sees this.

FYI, Ference is no longer the Oilers captain. They don't have a captain, and are running with 4 assistant captains (Ference, Hall, Hopkins, Eberle.)

So wailing and teeth gnashing aside, seriously what happened to this team? It's basically entirely the same roster but it's the polar opposite of last year. Zero heart, zero push back, zero confidence.

I get that there's the whole regression from unsustainable percentages thing but that doesn't explain the change to this degree. Is it really just the ECHL level goaltending that they're getting that's the issue? I don't understand what changed that made this team so damn soft.

Goaltending is our biggest problem right now. We let a bad one in and there's no coming back it seems.

Don't do anything stupid to jeopardize the future of this team. We're still in the midst of a rebuild. Let's just play the season out and not trade away the team's future to get better instantly. Try and build some confidence the rest of the way this season and continue with the rebuild.

This feels like late-90s vintage Flames, with Gaudreau playing the part of Fleury. At this point, he's pretty much the only reason to watch.

I watched the first period, and was fairly happy with the effort. Thought that the first two lines played well. And then I was called away and missed the rest of the game, and read quickly through the game thread to get caught up. Granted, I only skimmed large portions of the thread (so I just kind of got the gist of what occurred), but when did it become legal for the Flames players to take a bunch of puppies and sacrifice them to Beelzebub at centre ice? I assume that's what happened. I mean it's Halloween and all, but come on.
