If Pat was smart he'd just keep it shorter for each caller. Don't get into arguments, just let each caller make one point and then say bye then respond. The whole debating points with drunk people at 1 in the morning is kind of stupid and annoying. That he gets so worked up about someone being wrong is concerning, if someone gets a fact wrong it doesn't really matter. Nobody cares. He needs to chill the heck out.

The complaining about Steinberg sounds a lot like what people said about Kerr in his final years as OT host... I remember how people on CP were saying Pat was refreshing his first year replacing Kerr.

I think there's a shelf life of doing something like OT before you just get fed up of dealing with morons calling in night after night... Pat may have hit the end of his - not his fault, just a matter of getting tired of it.

Oh BTW, IIRC, there should be a different host tonight, if there is even OT tonight???

I heard on the Fan they said Pat gets Saturday games off.

Have you ever worked a customer service job? Sometimes you have to stoop and be polite. Entertain people's ignorance if you will. Pat had no right to speak to the callers with the tone he had. Interrupting them, yelling at them and being downright immature. Yes some suggestions were irrational.

What if you work in a tech store and someone comes in looking for something that doesn't exist or obviously wouldn't be in a tech store like an iPhone running android or Windows OS. Would you yell at them, cut them off and tell them they are stupid? He is at work after all and the stations need their listeners.

We get it pat you are an expert on the flames and get to interview treliving and see everything first hand. But don't be a ###### bag. I remember waiting on the phone for it to be my turn and it sounded like he was being really rude with another caller before me. Kind of irked me. Why not sit through something and listen to the persons points and then come back and say I disagree and here's why. No need to shout at people and cut them off. Especially some of the people who clearly have a tougher time expressing themselves and do t sound confident. You never know how that could effect someone..chewing them out on air because they wanted to call in and say we should have got a number one goalie in the off season. Pat could have just said that's easier said than done..next caller.

Cant expect every caller to be well spoken and have something interesting or new to add? Some people call in to rant and blow off steam. The show is what it is. If you want constructive discussion about the games..come on Calgary puck.

He entertains the crazy ideas of Robert and yuki..but they are regulars. Usually he doesn't lose it like that. I think he knows he messed up. But generally he is very pushy and aggressive on air. Last night he was just out right disrespectful.

I didn't catch the call-in show, but maybe Pat is trying to redefine is on-air persona? He's been pretty darn vanilla over the years.

Every great (read: popular) radio man has had a distinct persona. Like him or hate him, Jim Rome is recognizable on air due to his unique style. Maybe Pat wants to be the sparring type.

I think it is a tough gig when you take it as seriously as Pat does.

Considering the callers rarely, probably never, have a reasonable point to make he should just placate them, let them have their little rant and thank them for their calls. Maybe once and a while point out some mistakes.

But that is a pretty boring job to sit there and listen to dumb opinions so I see why he wants to jump in and argue with them.

I worked a customer service job where a drunk guy approached me, mumbled some incoherent garbage, wet himself and passed out on a chair. That's half of the callers to Overtime.

Thankfully the customer isn't always right and the Police can take care of the idiots. Unfortunately, Pat doesn't have that luxury.

He has however, spent the last 4-5 years being very accommodating to 99.9% of the callers regardless of the calibre of call and is entitled to have a bad day every once in a while.

I don't think that's comparable at all. Honestly. I think he should take the question on air and disconnect people and answer like almost every other show. A drunk person passing out in a public establishment is nothing like a drunk flames fan calling to share their drunk opinions. Not that I like those calls but it is what it is..as much as I hate that saying.

Just arrived in Edmonton for the game. When people say this city sucks, they aren't joking. This place is greasey.

You'll die a martyr if you don't make it out alive...

We'll name a section of the stands in the new arena after you.

It's tough to listen to and I'm sure it's hell for anyone who has the duty to host the show.
Haha. Both of those were the same guy (Moe?) who called around 1130 when I was coming back from my hockey game. I reckon Moe's IQ was about 85 generously speaking. I really felt for Pat - I would have lost it if I had to listen to drivel like that. Pat actually let him go on for 5-6 minutes. I guess he finally boiled over later into the night. It's a tough gig, especially if you know there are going to be a bunch of Moe's everytime you go to work. Having to deal with people in my line of work, I have a lot of empathy for Pat.

Oh boy...this could get awkward. You may want to read a couple of pages back.

Yes this is how it went for Kerr. He started off energetic and enthusiastic. At some point, if you have to continually deal with what he dealt with, you will come to a fork in the road: Turn your brain off, and continue to live with it, or keep your dignity and start fighting back.

Once he got off the call-in show, he re-adjusted and became the enjoyable Kerr again.

Actually my name is Moe, I called in once. Probably around 12:30ish when people on page 14 were talking about me.

And what the frick is an IQ ?

Maybe there were mo moes who called in before I started listening and after I stopped.

I am aware , and it was definitely at 1130. And the subject matter was different - there must have been 2 Moe callers...... Or our Moe was ****faced drunk and doesn't remember the time or exactly what he talked about.
