The van was obviously directed by the Governor; he gave them the signal to come on in when he started shooting in the air.
I have a question regarding Michonne waking up in the van. Did Rick and Co. put her in there hoping she would leave? Or is she just staying outside the prison from now on so they don't have to deal with her? I really wish they would start being more straight forward with some of their storylines, including what happened to the other group of course.
I also can't believe the prison group is just letting Rick wander around like a crazy person, without even trying to bring him back in the fold. With Darryl gone last week the group was in danger from reprisal from the Governor, and yet aside from Hershel they all had their thumbs up their ass, and did nothing regarding Rick. You got some of them cracking jokes, others infighting, and Carl doing nothing; and yet doing nothing to help out Rick... wtf! If Rick was further away from the prison they'd all be dead right now.

Another "fail" for the Governator, even though it wasn't necessarily forseeable from his perspective... he just doubled the strength of his enemy. I'm assuming that Merle and Michonne's role in this incident killing walkers before they could kill the group leads to the grudging acceptance of both into the fold to some degree and Rick getting his sh*t together long enough to deal with this particular threat.
So.
You now have gone from fighting Insano-Rick, Glenn and... an 11 year old is the next most useful dude among the prison folk, to having to deal with Rick, Michonne, Merle, Daryl and Glen as the starting lineup. Not to mention, when she finds out that Gov lied and engaged in that naughty retribution she talked to him about, possibly Andrea.
That, ladies and gents, is not a big win.

That's fine, but like you said, he doesn't know most to any of that.
Also, I'm sure he's betting on the walkers really doing some damage to their base/supplies/people.

Well, he's stupid then. Walkers don't damage supplies, really. And this group already cleared out that courtyard, they can do it again if desired... especially with Michonne, Merle and Daryl around.
All I'm saying is that it was a huge fail on multiple levels and he should be going back to his town red in the face, not smugly smiling like he accomplished something.

Does the Governor have the numbers for an all out assault?
The town is in panic, he needs people guarding the walls, guarding the people, and needs to find a way to take out the prison.
Remember, Glen exagerated how many people they have at the prison. The Governor doesn't know they're short staffed, and it's not like they had the time, resources, or ability to do a recon mission to determine what they were dealing with. Best bet, lay down cover fire, breach the prison walls, send in a ton of walkers, let the walkers take out or consume most of the prison.
Then the prison folk have to deal with the walkers unleashed in the prison plus they are no longer safe. They have to fix the fence with walkers being attracted to the gunfire. No time to repair.
The Governor wasn't privy to all the info we have. I. He knew I'm sure things would have been different. (Target Rick, then pick off the rest one by one).

I think he did more damage than most people thought.
He destroyed those 2 outer gates. They are not going to easily repair them or replace them. He released a few walkers into that courtyard, but with the gates gone that field will fill up with walkers.
And what attracts zombies? Noise. That's why he was firing all willy nilly in the air to attract them to the prison.
Don't know if the Governor knows this but on the other side of the prison there is a massive breach. Glen and Carl had to go and clear a section, earlier in the episode, that had previously been cleared. So I am sure they'll be over run soon.
He was smug because he just made life a whole lot worse for them. He wants them to suffer.
As for the Glen/Maggie thing; me being an insensitive man I don't really get it...I think I do...but I am not sure. My wife does though, and was all rah rah where Maggie pushed Glen away. I can ask her....

I think you are reading a little too much into this. This invasion was simply an excuse to make watchers hate the man more and a chance to show how the group reacts to a more dire situation. I expect the Governor will get his due in the last episode of the season. If this was real life group would have been executed at once when the Governor shot that dude in the head when they were all in the open and they wouldn't have stopped until every last one of them were dead but that wouldn't exactly be good for the series.

I noticed this too. I didn't get a good look but any chance he has tattoos on both sides?
I was hoping Glen was going to walk right up behind the governor and execute him. Feels like this governor story line has been going on for forever.
I wonder if Tyrese' group is still somewhere in the prison. With Axel gone the show needs a few more Star Trek red shirts.

They must have flipped the recording because those are his real tatoos. But I can live with that, didn't even notice.
Just went back to watch that part. It is an odd scene. THe tats are on the right, then when he gets up they are on the left. Then as he starts walking even futher away you can't see them at all because he now majicaly has a black shirt on covering them.

As for the Maggie-Glenn thing; the bottom line is that Maggie was still sexually assulted. No there was no intercourse, but still a sexual assault. Add to that the fact that Maggie was forced to make a choice; submit to the sexual assault or have Glenn lose his hand.
Glenn then proceeded to give all the wrong answers; which made Maggie furious.

I think what really had Maggie mad with Glenn was how he was trying to be angry for her, to assume he knew what had happened, that he knew how she had to have felt, that his outrage was almost more important than hers. He didn't ask how she was or what happened at the time, he assumed the worst and went overboard thinking he had to defend & take of Maggie cuz she couldn't take care of herself.
When she points out to Glenn that she took off her shirt etc because she was taking care of Glenn & protecting him, he seemed shocked - obviously he hadn't thought of it that way - which I think made her even madder.
At least that's how I took the situation.
