this is why we need a notice on tubs of laundry detergent telling us to not eat it.

life is full of dangers, can't place a sign on everything

Hard to notice signs at night in the dark.

"I think for us what might have made the biggest difference was if there is some mention of a big fine or something," said Spalding.
The 20 year old said two years ago, the teenagers knew they were trespassing but didn't stop to think about the consequences.
"If there was like, 'trespassers will be fined $1,500 bucks,' we'd be like, screw that, we're not going to do that."
You know you are committing an illegal act, but a sign about a fine would deter you? I don't know about that.

He wanted the sign to say that there was a fine, in addition to "No Trespassing". Said that if he's seen a sign with a fine that he might have thought twice about it (Despite claiming that he, the twins, and one other person had already 'done the run' previously, too)...

Three of the eight teens, including Spalding, had gone down the track more than a week earlier using toboggans and a kayak.

Spalding said the teens chose the the bobsled track, instead of the luge, because it was higher, so they would go faster.

That night they had brought headlamps and helmets, and went down three times before driving away unnoticed.

"I remember seeing a security guard at the end when we were leaving. I gave them a wave and they waved back."
So he and his buddies 'do the run' and don't get caught (signs didn't stop them), brag to their buddies about how awesome it is, and then try to state that, having come back with a group of buddies that they've bragged to about it...that they'd see signs and call it off? Right.

Also, not sure if it's just poor reporting or not, but the last bit contradicts itself. They 'drove away unnoticed', but 'saw and waved at a security guard, who waved back'...?

Maybe they should go with cigarette ad advertising and put up signs illustrating the grotesque outcomes that will likely happen.

Being open since 1986 and having only 2 fatalities on the track none being actual competitors I think this is a complete waste of time. You can't put a bubble around everything and spending a bunch of time and money to try and figure out how to stop bad things from happening there isn't doing anything.

Kids will find a dozen different ways to get into trouble and I'm sure there are many here like me that are surprised we survived our youth.
