The line between Sean Monahan and Boring Monahan grows ever blurrier.

I wonder if Sean himself is actually the guy behind @boringmonahan, and he's just been epically trolling everyone all this time.

I guess Johnny wasn't as into the whole figure skating thing as Bennett. He was probably asked to throw Ekblad so he could do an aerial twirl, but got squished instead.

Don't worry Johnny, training camp is around the corner.

If anything, he's probably pissed Bennett got a custom #93 jersey and he has to use the rookie scrub #53

Other Bennett (#43 in white) highlights during the scrimmage:

0:14-0:28 Goal
4:34-4:53 Assist
6:32-6:50 Didn't score, but very nice stickhandling display and scoring chance
7:02-7:15 Didn't score, but makes #25 in black look silly
7:45-8:00 Didn't score, but does a nice job maintaining possession below the blueline on his own

Love what I'm seeing. The non-goals were more impressive than the goal and the assist.

Number 55 looks like a mighty fine player as well. Anyone know who that is?

Treliving tells Spector "I'd be shocked" if Bennett makes the team:

I would be pretty shocked too. This is not a case of Monahan who looked physically and mentally mature (the guy already acts like a 30 year old veteran), so you figured he at least had a shot. Bennett just doesn't look anywhere close yet. And hey, that's totally ok…there is absolutely no reason to rush the guy. It's not a case of letting him over ripen. He still needs to ripen period.

Agreed T5. Plus that is a bit of a challenge from Treliving. I am sure he will be watching to see how Sam responds to it.

Love the way he takes it off of a player in the defensive zone , and the hands in tight !

From looking at the roster in the earlier post, it looks to be Spencer Watson (drafted in 2014 by L.A. in the 7th round).

Monahan also had less competition last year. With guys like Reinhart and Granlund a year older and knocking on the door, and of course with Monahan established, Bennett will be in tougher to make the team.

Monohan had three years of experience in the OHL and was entering his first NHL season just weeks before his 18th birthday. Bennett only turned 18 shortly after the draft, and only just finished his second season in the OHL. Their situations are in no way comparable.

Monahan was also 11 days short of his 19th birthday to start the season.

Bennett only just turned 18 in June.
