Don't think you can read too much into a reaction... I'd imagine it's rather exciting to be drafted at all, nevermind in the first round when you weren't really expected to go that high.

So, we've lost players like St Louis, Savard, Stoll, Erixon... who's next? Why can't this team seem to do anything right?

looking at Roman Horak's stats, I think he's pretty close to Howse numbers. He played 6 less games than Howse and he's second in scoring to Howse. If he had played as many games as Howse, he might be the scoring leader on that team.
Ryan Howse 70 games 83 points +/- -19
Roman Horak 64 games 78 points +/- -7

Does Erixon think hes Eric Lindros or something.. seriously the dude is a late 1st rounder, what kind of leverage does he possibly have to pick and choose his team.

Well that sucks. For all I am concerned the Erixon family are a bunch of babies and can stay in Europe.
Now I really hope Brodie pans out and becomes twice the player Erixon will ever be. oooh that'd be sweet.

Except to me it sounds like you couldn't shop him around. I think his agent led Feaster up until today to believe a deal could be reached and then turned around and said that his client wants to be a Ranger and to get a deal done with them or he will take his chances in the draft thus forcing Feaster to do what he could to get something good from Sather in return. Given that situation you really have to applaud Jay Feaster here. The Rangers could have said they would give their 2nd and nothing else. The person you should be angry at here is Tim Erixon and his agent, they pissed all over this organization to force a trade to a team the whiney brat wants to play for. Good riddance!

Maybe Erixon was scared to play in the big bad Western conference, and preferred playing in the East? I think this speaks to character issues with Erixon himself, so in the long run, lets hope this turned out as a good thing for the Flames. Not too overly optimistic right now, but what can you do?

Jamie Tardif played hardball with the Flames on an NHL contract. He has been in the minors ever since.
The fact of the matter is, it happens to most teams at some point.

I'm not a Flames fan because I'm angry and disappointed with the current course? Most people know I've been a hell of a supporter of Feaster and the management. I'm am unbelievably frustrated now.

I blame the agent as much as Tim. Flames should be carefull about drafting any of his clients in the future.

While I agree with you Tim Erixon I don't believe was the second coming of Lidstrom. It's the whole appearance of the mess. It's the small details along the way that come to really look bad over time.
It's giving out a draft pick for a guy who should have retired the year before.
It's signing your 3rd liner to a no trade clause. If you actually think Glenn X is more than that we are a long ways away from winning the Stanley Cup.
It's the appearance of letting one of your better prospects go in a trade for someone who puts in minimal effort. When you only said two weeks ago we want to be a team that is hard to play against.
For these reasons its the difference between talking about doing something and actually doing something.
Was Feaster handcuffed probably, at it's sure easy being a fan and pointing the missle at him, but he wanted the job and so far I see and hear a whole ton of meet the press conferences and not very much substance from what he has been saying.
That is why the fan base is mad. It's not these small things on their own is the cumulation of mistakes.

I know a lot of people liked to plug their ears and pretend like all is fine and all the cards are held by one side, but sooner or later, this type of organizational behavior will hurt you... like now.

I completely agree. When you have guys like Backlund playing 3/4 line duties there's issues. Im not saying Backlund is better than our other centers, but do we really know? Guys like Skinner, Myers and O'Reilly are not accidents. They were put into positions to succeed and did so. As was Phaneuf when he first came here. They didn't try to make him a player he wasn't and until they did Phaneuf was a hell of a player.
3/4 line duties or bottom pairing defensemen are not what these fearly rounders are used to being. Most of them have been the cream of the crop their entire hockey careers. And all of a sudden they're taken from top dogs getting a shift every 2 min, to someone whos lucky if they get a total of 10 minutes and are forced to grind it out. We need to start letting young players be the player they are.

Ranger fans are happy with the tarde but seem disappointed that they lost Horak. They had pretty good expectations of him.
