The thing that is most annoying is how Erixon feels hes gods gift, and can go wherever he wants.

To play in the NHL is not a right, but a privilege, and to be picked by a team in the 1st round he should be humbled at the opportunity to come to North America, and play hockey. Im sure New York was his favorite team growing up, just like all the drafted players had favorite teams growing up. The likelihood of them being drafted by that team is not good, but you don't see them pouting or crying because they got picked by another team. Does anyone actually believe Iginla as a child sat there dreaming of playing for the Flames? Hell no, he was dreaming of wearing Oiler blue. He got traded to the Flames, and has represented us with class, and for all intents and purposes wants to finish his career as a Flames.

Erixon is a punk for what he did, and I hope he pays, and pays dearly. Piece of crap. A person like him does not deserve to be in the NHL.

I think what changed was that Erixon knew the Rangers were after him. Maybe his Dad heard through his contacts with the Rangers or maybe his cousin heard something.

I don't think blaming Erixon is fair. This has a "father and agent" feel to it for sure. What are you going to do at 20 when you're father and the person in charge of getting your salary are intent on doing something?

Agreed 100%, but no amount of arguing is going to do any good with Moon and Beerfest.

Backlund should have been given more opportunity than he has been given. Dude got what 11 minutes average of ice time last season? while plugs like Stajan got more ice time. Luckily he isn't a little bitch like Erixon and has done everything that has been asked of him without whining.

Now we can trade up into the top 10 in the draft and try to Draft Ryan Strome!

These issues have been raised multiple times on CP, and now suddenly they're disregarded because Erixon's camp brought them up? Yeah, they were probably all excuses so he could go to NY, but that doesn't make the issues any less than they already were with this franchise.
If anything Backlund has been given too much based on what he has shown in junior, AHL and the NHL.

And I have been arguing against the BS Flames hold young players back long before Ericon opened his fat yap.

This one really hurts. We are very thin on the backend. A lot of quantity but not much quality. We need to be honest with ourselves and stop looking through rose colored glasses. I made that mistake in the young guns era. Kept on believing what the org was telling me. Team is close, team is headed in the right direction, this player is good, blah, blah, blah, blah. How much it pains me to say this but this team is not good enough and big changes need to be made.

whether the player wanted to be here or not the ineptness of this org is getting embarrassing. feaster is not off to a very good start. this is not acceptable. the direction of this team is looking scarier and scarier.

can't parse through these 23 pages, but can anyone summarize what Horak brings to the table, and whether he projects to (3/4 line guy with speed), possible 2nd line winger, question mark to ever make the nhl?

Backlund has been given too much in the NHL based on what he's shown? Are you kidding? If he were given any less he'd be the towel boy. I especially feel he deserves more time on the power-play, instead of scrubs like Matt Stajan.

Apperently he's a very skilled center but has been known to be lazy at times. So basiclly a Rene Bourque type-player

He is definitely a question mark to ever make the league.

Backlund hasn't shown anything to make anyonr think he is ready for more of an opportunity... he played on the 3rd line for the 1st half of the season, then the top line for the last quarter of the year and he managed only 10 points on the top line in the last 20 games... backlund wasn't just a 4th liner like people like to make him sound

I think you have to accept that the turmoil in the Flames this year didn't help either, the kid was drafted by a cup contendor with a massive commitment to defense, which goes along way to make up for the distance from family and the small market canadian city effect.

Now the Flames are a transitional team looking likely to go into a rebuild much less challange for a cup. A far less attractive team to play for in all honesty.

Feaster prefers skill over will if only one is present as will often develops as a player ages. Put him under Playfair and the will might just develop. Darryl would have got a guy with will and little skill. It's a lot more likely a player will get the will thing figured out at that age then the skill thing.
Will is not something that is taught. It is something that is inside of you and you either have it or you dont. You are right about the sutter analogy though. It is refreshing getting some skill instead of will like sutter would have done.

I'm surprised we got anything frankly....still this is really a terrible day for the flames franchise. You just don't expect this to happen to a team like us. Whether it was completely out of left field or not makes no difference. This makes me feel as though we've really fallen farther then first thought over the last 12-18 months.

Apparently Mike Babcock picks out young guys all the time while watching teams practice and comments on them as being a real good player.

Backlund is the real deal, and it's a shame the way he's being handled by the Flames. No wonder why the Flames have a bad reputation.

Kind of makes all those "WHO THE HELL WOULD LIVE IN (Insert name of place Calgarians looked down upon here)" comments hit home eh?

Maybe next time some people won't be so quick to throw them out there.

Great job Feaster on getting the team something out of nothing!

We finally have a prospect that looks like a guy that could have the potential to be an impact player and we lose him. This really hurts.
