Hey, I knew a Mike Hunt in high school too. He always insisted people call him Michael instead. Perfectly understandable. I've always wondered if his parents were doing too much of the hippy lettuce when they came up with that one.

My first name is more common for girls than guys. I still get correspondence address as “Miss” or “Ms” from time to time

As for the girls, I staggered across a couple of unfortunate toddlers. One named "Henny" and another "Henessey". "Henny" could be a grandma's name or something, which makes it cool and not silly. Henessey is, no doubt, the offspring of someone who wears a hat sideways.

Or maybe it was 2 different guys who didn't want to be known as pussies.
Even Fotze wants to be known as Sausage Hunt now. hehe

While I hate the dumb parents who purposely mis-spell words simply because they think it's cool, I can think of two reasons why people shouldn't be so judgmental:
1) The name is legitimately spelled that way in it's etymology (eg: Meaghan -> Megan
2) It might be religious.
I'd prefer it if parents would farm their family history for names rather then grabbing whatever is popular at the time (an entire generation of Madisons, Haylees and Carters... ugh)

I'm pretty sure it's those undecided parents who dont have a name yet when they check out of the hospital. hahahaha

What is wrong with people?
It's too bad that George Carlin is dead, because he could have updated his "Todd and Kyle" bit...

68 posts in and nobody's brought up the loser celebs with their freaky names like Apple, Rumer, Scout, Phinneas?
I used to work at Co-op back in the day when people's names were on the Value Plus cards. One guy's name was Peter Pan.
I went to school with a guy named Kris Kristian.
As for me, if I ever have kids the main rule for naming will be no names from the bible. No Peters, Davids, Johns, Lukes, Marks, (my own annoyingly common name) Michael, Mary, etc...
I'd probably go with an out of date name. Like Cornelius. Just kidding.
For girls, I've always preferred names that end with an A. I really don't know why. But I do know it was pretty cool spending so much time in Italy where nearly every female name ends in A.

Yeah, what's up with that? Is it just a place holder until they come up with something better, or are they actually naming their babies " Baby"? Big Dirty Dancing fans?

... Mostly used when the baby dies in childbirth, or is stillborn. Sometimes the parents don't then give a name.
To Bertuzzied,
You have to give the child a name before leaving the hospital, filling out the form is one thing that has to be done before the baby is released.

11 people named their Kid "Talon".
33 Xander
42 Xavier
and 20 people named their kid "Ryland".
Ryland? Seriously?
117 Ryder
22 Rhys
6 Odin
11 Maverick
16 Malachi
13 Lochlan
64 Jaxon
46 Grayson
36 Griffin
13 Drake
36 Declan
15 Dayton
14 Dante
83 Chase
117 Caleb
38 Cash
17 Chance
Contrast that with the fact that only 26 people named their kid Paul and 27 people named their kid Patrick (Normal names).

Declan is a common Irish name. I guess there are only 36 potato farmers getting any.
