At least they didn't spell it Hannaw Heylee.

When it comes to naming your child, there's nothing worse than taking a common name and spelling it "uniquely". It doesn't make you look unique, it makes you look illiterate.

I often wonder if parents think about how these names will sound when they are adults. I would find it hard to take an accountant named "Champagne" seriously, or "Lexus" for that matter.

Not to derail, but does anyone else think a person's name can have an effect on who they become? I have never met a "Levi" that did not get in trouble with the law at some point in their lives. Also, I have never met a slim girl named "Charity".

I actually met a guy, an older guy in his 60s, and his name is "Murder". I don't know if it is actually spelled like that, but that is how it was procounced.

I went to school with a Tanyaporn (last name Wansom--I'm not kidding) and worked with a Tuwati ("uw" pronounced like "w"). These two fine ladies were from other countries, but I always felt bad for them.

I talked to the wife of a guy named Oral Head once. Not kidding at all. He was born in 1969.

For your enjoyment, when you've got the time, you can read the exhaustive list of boy's and girls names given to children born in Alberta in 2007, and how many times each of those names was used.

http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/.../2007_Boys.pdf

http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/...2007_Girls.pdf

You can find all the wierd, illiterate names in there.

Seriously, Alicsander? Alex-Zander?

Do we really need 16 different spellings of Abigail? Or 13 differenct spellings of Cadence?

A lot of the outragous names I see posted on here are becoming common place. When I go to my daughters school the lockers have stickers on them with many of the names posted in this thread. Just a sign of the times I guess. The one that blew me away the other day was my daughter talking about "Justice". I asked if Justice was a boy or a girl? She said a boy. I had to laugh.

Wow. I'm still in the A's....

107 Aidan
139 Aiden
1 Aideyn
1 Aidin
3 Aidyn

Ok, people. That's enough with the Aidens already - no matter how you spell it.

edit: 238 Logans?

Do they want her on the pole?

That is the only reason I could see for naming your girl something like that.

I went to school with a Pappilong Hastady. A bit too close to Hopalong Cassidy to not be intentional, IMO

My friend named his two sons Briggs Baker and Gunner Colt. I actually like the names. It works for them.

Did you ask if he was blind?

I went to my nephew's high school grad a couple of years ago and there was one girl in his class who had such a perfect stripper name, I had to bite my lip to keep from bursting out laughing. I wish I could remember what her name was (from what I remember, I thought she probably could have made some good money as a stripper -- then I remembered she was born in 1988, and I felt like a dirty old man).

A kid called Mike Hunt that I went to school with probably wishes his parents gave a little more thought to naming him. I bet he'd love to be called Aleckzis....cause, well, uh.... nah, Mike Hunt is still preferable.
