Here's some background on the app...

There are some potentially very big security issues for Android users. First, all iMessages sent through the app are routed through a server in China. The routing through a third-party server means the owner of that server could be storing every iMessage sent. Second, the app has the ability to download and install software in the background on your Android device without you knowing it

I then setup Android Device Manager, but discovered it will only find my son's phone if he is using it. Part of the idea is to see if he is going to and from school on time.
Try Cerberus. It's a $3 for five devices but I've found it pretty handy.

I think landlines suck but that doesn't mean I don't want to call them.

Updates to Gmail and hangouts. Gmail is a lot nicer looking but I have not seen the new Hangouts. Lots of contact and status updates in Hangouts.

You can finally see who is on Hangouts! When you start a new Hangout, green icons show who's on, and gray shows who's not.
Contacts are now organized by People you Hangout with, Suggested People, and Other Contacts.
Long press contacts in the New Hangout screen to hide them.
Invites are now above your conversations so they're easier to find.
Pinch-to-zoom photos!

I've been using this app for a week and it's great!

When my phone is charging or somewhere in the house / car I get instant texts to my laptop.
Something that works this good and has a Chrome extension, shouldn't be free...

I would of missed a couple calls too, when my phone was in silent mode.

Why does Google insist on making Maps crappier with every subsequent update? Now they've taken out turn-by-turn transit navigation.

I have wondered that myself. I made the mistake of updating and quickly reverted back. I like being able to just drive and see the traffic conditions around me without having to enter in a destination.

I think they dropped the ball. Not sure why they haven't re-introduced those features, but I turned off auto-update until they do. Google seems oblivious to the concerns people have too. Reviews are rotten in the app store.

Just uninstall and it will roll back to the original version, then disable auto updates. Worked for me with hangouts / gtalk and google maps.

You can look online for the apk file too, so you can get the latest version that works the way you like.

I guess I'll unfreeze it to see what changed though any updates wouldn't have added more people for me to chat with.

I like how it shows who's online now (green dot).

Seems to make sense.

You can hide contacts as well by long clicking on them, and it has your contact list organized a lot better. People you 'hangout' with on top, suggested contacts below that, other contacts way further on the bottom.

Worth the update.

Has anybody been using Tapatalk 4 recently finding themselves being asked to download the latest update because the current version is 'out of dated'? I'm only able to find the HD version for tablets or at least that's how it constantly turns out for me.

Yes. Every time. Frustration. It will open every time if opened from Play Store, but that seems stupid
