This thread is gold, I've lived in Airdrie for 24 years, not once have I seen colour an issue growing up here, Well except for all the little white kids who wish they were black.....the city itself didn't become a lame cookie cutter earth toned mess until the boom hit.....going into a friends house was always different....now there are probably 5 houses that share the same floor plan on my street alone.

My wife and I moved to Airdrie in 92. We were 22 at the time, and just married. I get a little of what Locke has so eloquently said about the social life abyss when you move there, but for us, it was people from Calgary saying they wouldn't come to Airdrie because it was too far. We would laugh it off and visit them in Calgary, no big deal. To us it doesn't seem that far because we drive it every day.
For ten years I worked at Southland Drive and Macleod Trail. At first, it took me 30 minutes each way, when I quit, it was taking well over an hour. I don't think Airdronians are alone in long commutes. Anybody dealing with Deerfoot northbound in the afternoon rush should attest to that.
We have been in Airdrie long enough that our social life is centered here. Our kids grew up here. We have plenty of friends here now, and my liver takes a #### kicking far too often. I don't understand the hate, and really don't care if the haters move or visit here at all.

Which is ironic, because when I went to BCHS, rednecks were a prominent subculture within the school. Cowgirls are freaking hot, but man, I'd much rather my own kids grow up with and interact with people of the "wrong" colour or culture than the male hicks we had. There wasn't just a smoking spot across the street, there was a chewin' tobacco spot.

If you could prove that it was a legitimate religious belief then I don't see why not. Simply saying "these are my beliefs" wouldn't cut it, but if you could show a piece of scripture or confirm in any way, shape, or form that jeans and a t-shirt held some sort of intrinsic spiritual value to you, then your employer would be legally entitled to accommodate you.

The ecstacy was probably manufactured in the crappy town you live in.
