^ You threw away our heart and soul guy in Booms. Byron will be a regular next year. Granlund is a center, Reinhart is a winger. Poirier needs to spend a full year in minors unless he has a lights out camp then he plays top 6 not the 4th line. Those trades are not good enough for those teams. Butler does not play the 7th dman role. The fascination with Matt Greene is interesting to watch, Id rather have Butler over him.

People have to realize Byron and Granlund were fantastic in their time this year and Hartley is not going to forget that. Those guys will play over rookies or guys like Knight.

I tried making a team on Capgeek, and I realized that it's impossible to play a good amount of young guys while still being above the cap floor.

I had to send down Wotherspoon and Baertschi and sign Vrbata and an expensive defenseman.

It will be interesting to see how Burke tinkers with the lineup to ensure that the Flames give the young guys a shot and still meet the floor.

I believe so...could maybe see the flames at the very least thinking about buying out wideman, but in the end this team needs to get to the cap floor...which I think is a major concern of management

Why would we buy out a player when we are struggling to make the cap floor?

I think we'll see both Wideman and Jones as overpaid bottom line players just so we can meet the cap floor and still have key spots open for young guys.

Pretty sure this lineup wouldn't make the cap floor regardless.

The flames seem to have too many B/C quality prospects and not enough blue chip prospects. We need a deal involving one of our Vets with decent value and 2 B prospects (or 1 B prospect and a 2nd round pick) for a blue-chip prospect.

There are too many deserving young guys and not enough open spots. It's a good problem to have I suppose and it's never been this way since I've started following the flames.

This lineup is based on one trade, resigning free agents, elevating players from the farm I feel can make the team and meeting the cap floor. The proposed salaries are suggested minimums and may have to be increased to get the deal done.
