This years starting lineup

Since some fans are concern about opportunities for forward prospects (myself included) I wanted to see how the roster stacks up.

Players next year that will definitely be on the Flames roster barring injury:

Glencross, Backlund, Jones, Raymond, Colborne, Bollig, Monahan, Hudler, Stajan, McGrattan (10 players)

Players most likely on the roster but could potentially be waived due to suckiness (3 players):

Bouma, Byron, Setoguchi

Flames forward prospects that have a legitimate chance of deserving a roster spot during training camp/pre-season:

Baertschi, Granlund, Gaudreau, Reinhart, Wolf, potential others.

What happens if three prospects deserve to be on the roster after training camp? They have to hope one or more of Bouma, Byron and Setoguchi have bad camps or wait for injuries.

I think there is a legitimate concern about prospects being sent down even though they have proven to be ready for the NHL. Treliving said if prospects are ready they will be in the line-up so it will be interesting to see what happens if the Flames have no injuries up front to start the season.

Kind of get the feeling with all the young guys that will be in the line up at some point this year that we will see mcgrattan go into full beast mode sooner or later on someone for taking a run at the kids. Mcgrattan is a very respectable guy and he plays his role better than anyone. I don't know if we've ever actually seen him in a full on rage against someone but with his bromance with Monahan, he might just do it this year. God help the guy that makes a dirty hit on Sean and gets McGrattan angry... He won't like him when he's angry.

What's that going to accomplish? No team will pick him up and I'm sure owners don't want to pay what ever he gets to be in the AHL.

Jones is not going anywhere. At best/worst he will spend time in pressbox. Even then the flames roster is so bad that I don't see him sitting unless he is injured.

Well, he is injured - that's why I left him out. Lower body makes me think knee or etc.

How exciting... for the first time in a long time we literally have too many guys that we all want to see on the starting line up.
Ferland has had a incredible pre season and his 2 goals tonight are just gravy
Bennett has been our best forward game in and game out
Johny has been great. We didnt hear of any huge flashes tonight however he was second in shots and from what I heard, played a very defensive game.
Monahan is simply clutch.

A line with Hudler, Johny and Raymond would be fun too watch. The speed is incredible!
